“Some people call this artificial intelligence, but the reality is this technology will enhance us. So instead of artificial intelligence, I think we'll augment our intelligence.” —Ginni Rometty When we hear the term artificial intelligence, we might think of Anthony Daniels’ unnecessarily effete C-3PO or the sociopathic HAL from 2001. The reality is that AI represents a suite of technologies that are already supporting and assisting human decision-making in a whole host of settings. In this seminar, we’ll discuss some of the ways in which publishers and institutions are using big data, semantics and analytics to make smarter strategic decisions. We’ll critically discuss business-specific use cases and attendees will learn what publishers and libraries should and should not expect to be able to achieve using these new technologies.
