I have known Huizhi Li since he started at Caterpillar in March 2015.
He worked as a sound test engineer at Caterpillar’s Peoria Proving
Ground, during which he has established himself as a very capable test
engineer. He is responsible for maintaining equipment, determining
test plans, instrumenting machines, running tests, analyzing data, and
making recommendations. Huizhi has used lean principles to
streamline the actual test process. By reviewing and analyzing data as
it is being taken, he can adjust test plans accordingly. In his current
role Huizhi has developed very strong testing skills as well as a solid
knowledge of the various systems on a machine. The sound test
engineer is tasked with finding solutions to sound problems. This can
only be done with a good understanding of all the different noise
sources on a machine.
One trait that describes Huizhi is proactive. He is someone who takes
initiative, and gets involved. He is an active learner and participant.
He takes advantage of each project he is working on to increase his
knowledge and skill as well as to improve Caterpillar’s product. He
also seeks opportunities to learn from others. Huizhi was mentored by
senior test engineers and has learned how to perform many
complicated tests. Huizhi conducted most of the field testing in the
group and regularly traveled off site to conduct tests. As a field
engineer Huizhi did not have other people to rely on and he was
required to accomplish his work on his own.
Huizhi is highly respected by his co-workers for his willingness to help.
He has been instrumental in gathering developmental sound data on
prototype and pilot machines. He has shown good problem solving
abilities in troubleshooting prototype test equipment and machines.
He has gone above and beyond the call of duty in learning data
acquisition systems for special tests. He is diligent in his work,
professional in his approach, and innovative in his testing techniques.
Huizhi has done an excellent job. He can fit in to any group and make
a positive impact. I would highly recommend him for your company.
