Hubbard Sauna Detoxification Regimen
Since the 1940s 75,000 commercial chemicals have
been approved for use in the United States. Aside
from their intended uses, these chemicals interact
with genes and interfere with how DNA directs the
body's cellular operations and maintains health. In
2005, random blood samples analyzed by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
showed an average of 148 man-made chemicals and
alarmingly high levels of mercury.
Detoxification is more than a trendy term.
Detoxification is a normal bodily process that helps reduce this toxic burden. While every cell and
especially liver cells are designed to remove toxins, with high body burdens, toxic chemical lodge
into fat cells. However, the strength of the body's internal detoxification abilities is dependent on
many variables. These include the amount of toxins present, the body's vitamin, mineral, and
nutrient content, alcohol consumption, dietary fiber, exercise, hydration, and the body's ability to
sweat.
Raising the body's core temperature induces sweating. Saunas are an efficient means of
accomplishing sweating for extended periods. Both wood and infrared saunas are excellent in this
regard. Any spa visit should include a trip to the sauna iif at all possible.
Sweating and Detoxification
Toxins leave the body through waste materials, including sweat. Scientists have determined that
mercury, dioxin, antibiotics, heroin and cocaine can exit the body through the sweat glands. It's still
uncertain, however, whether these compounds can be liberated from fat cells. Studies have
confirmed that saunas can induce the toxic industrial polychlorinated biphenyl compounds (PCBs) to
be liberated from fat cells.
World Trade Center
Such studies have led researchers to develop protocols aimed at reducing the toxic burden of first
response as well as clean-up workers exposed to chemical toxins at the World Trade Center. On
September 11, 2001 the collapse of the World Trade Center towers released numerous toxic
substances into a densely populated urban environment. These toxins included asbestos,
radionuclides, benzene, dioxins, PCCBs, fiberglass, mercury, lead, silicon, and sulfuric acid. These
compounds are associated with cancer, toxic encephalopathy, and severe lung pathology, including
sarcoidosis.
Hubbard Detoxification Protocol
The precise sauna-based protocol designed by Mr. Hubbard has been documented for mobilizing fat-
stored toxins and enhancing their elimination while restoring the body's metabolic balance. This
regimen, which had previously been shown to be safe, is known to improve memory, cognitive
function, immune parameters, and general physical condition. Other benefits previously attributed
to saunas include stress reduction, improved circulation, lowered blood pressure, and muscle
relaxation.
The detoxification protocol is standardized and includes the following:
Daily regimen of physical exercise, immediately followed by forced sweating in a sauna at 140-180
degrees F for 2.5 hours with short breaks for hydration to offset the loss of body fluids and cooling.
Nutritional supplements centered on on increasing doses of crystalline niacin (nicotinic acid) to
promote lipid mobilization and stimulate circulation.
Administration of additional vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and essential oils, including vitamins A,
D , C, E, B complex, B;, multi-minerals including calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese,
copper, and iodine; sodium and potassium; and a blend of polyunsaturated oils, including soy,
walnut, peanut, and safflower.
The supplements along with the sauna are known to support healing and detoxification and enhance
cellular repair, immune processes and neural and endocrine function.
Results
Improvement was seen in perceived health status, mental health, activity level, skin, cardiac
function, respiratory function, musculoskeletal function, cognitive function, emotional function,
gastrointestinal function, immunological function, and in thyroid function. Sick days at work
declined tremendously and the amount of needed medications was reduced significantly.
