Air Force officers and senior NCOs toured a local coffee company to learn about their efforts to improve processes using tools similar to Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century (AFSO 21). The coffee company directors explained how implementing structured process improvement led to increased production and better customer service. Visiting a company in the early stages of improvement mirrored challenges faced by the Air Force in gaining traction with new initiatives. The tour provided insights into applying continuous process improvement concepts in a civilian operation.
