Hapag-Lloyd is implementing a general rate increase (GRI) for all dry containers shipped from East Asia to the US and Canada effective January 15, 2013. The rate increase ranges from $480-1012 per container depending on the destination within North America and container size. The rate increase applies to shipments from countries across East Asia, including Japan, China, Vietnam, and more, to ports on the US West Coast, East Coast, and Canada. Dear Customer,
We would like to inform you that Hapag-Lloyd has decided to implement the following
General Rate Increase (GRI) for all dry, non-operative reefer, flat rack and open-top
containers from East Asia to all USA and Canada destinations, as set out below:
Effective: 15th January 2013 (date of cargo receipt at origin)
Scope: East Asia to USA and Canada
§ To U.S. West Coast port locations,
Vancouver and British Columbia Province:
USD 480 per 20’ standard container
USD 600 per 40’ standard container (40' x 8'6")
USD 675 per 40’ high cube container (40' x 9'6")
USD 760 per 45’ container
§ To U.S. East Coast port locations and U.S. IPI and RIPI locations,
Toronto, Montreal, Halifax all-water and all other Canada Inlands:
USD 640 per 20’ standard container
USD 800 per 40’ standard container (40' x 8'6")
USD 900 per 40’ high cube container (40' x 9'6")
USD 1012 per 45’ container
East Asia is defined as being the countries of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong,
China (PRC), Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore,
Brunei, Indonesia, The Philippines and Russian Pacific Coast Provinces.
