Himachal Pradesh is a state located in northern India that is known for its snowcapped mountains. It is bordered by Jammu and Kashmir to the north, Tibet to the east, Uttarakhand to the southeast, Haryana and Punjab to the south and west. Himachal Pradesh has an area of 55,673 square kilometers and its elevation ranges from 350 to 7,026 meters above sea level. The state has a long history dating back to ancient kingdoms that ruled different parts of the region. Some of the historically significant places in Himachal Pradesh include Kangra Fort, Jatka Durg, Nahan Durg, Sheesh Mahal, and Moti Mahal.
