She developed Ausdruckstanz, a style of expressionist modern dance that used movement to express inner emotions and experiences. Her 1926 solo work Hexentanz is considered a signature work that demonstrated her fully matured artistic identity. Through this piece, Wigman was able to realize her desire for metamorphosis and transformation through dance.
