A proud sage prayed daily to meet God but was rude to others. A former thief wanted to reform and asked the sage how to find God. The sage told him to push a nearby hill one foot, thinking it impossible. The thief dedicated himself to the task for 20 years, serving the needy sincerely. God appeared and said the thief deserved heaven for his selfless work, not prayer. The sage realized good deeds and service matter most to reach God.

1. HOW TO REACH THE GOD !<br /> LONG ago, there was a sage who prayed hard to get the Darshan of the God and attain the Heaven. But he was a very proud man. He behaved roughly with others. <br />He thought that only those who pray the God will get the grace of the God. That’s why he always prayed the God sitting under a tree. There was another man who was a Dacoit. He committed a lot of crimes in his life. He looted many people and became very rich. He had no peace. He irritated of such life and wanted to live a peaceful and a sinless life. He met many people and asked for suggestion. But he was not happy. He was advised that only the God can help him. Then he asked how to reach the God. He got different suggestions but was not satisfied with. Finally he heard of the sage and went to him. He told about his past and asked him how to reach the God. The sage heard this and laughed and thought to make a fun. He said, “It is not easy to reach the God. You have to serve me and do whatever I say.” He pointed towards a hill and said to push it aside only distance of a foot and you can reach the God.” And the man thought that it is very easy to reach the God merely pushing the hill just a foot aside. He liked this and thanked the sage. He accepted the sage as his Guru.<br /> Then after, the man gave away all his riches to the poor and needy people and regularly served the sage and tried to push the hill. He did this with sincerity and with immense interest at the same time he helped the needy and led a simple life.<br /> Thus there passed twenty years, still the sage was praying and the man was doing the same job which was assigned to him, with the same interest and enthusiasm. One fine morning while the man was trying to push the hill the God appeared before him and said, “My dear son, I’m very happy with your work and now you deserve to attain the Heaven. Come with me.” The man got very happy and said, “Oh God, would you permit me to meet my Guru for a little while? “ And the God permitted. The man went to the sage and told about this. The sage surprised. He thought, “How this man could reach the God without praying, while I’m not able to get the God praying more than thirty years?” He realized the matter and blessed him. The man thanked the sage and went with the God.<br /> <br /> Moral- Do the duty sincerely you are assigned, help the needy and serve the mankind. It is rightly said that, “Work is Worship”, “Duty is God”, “Service to man is service to God”. Sincerity and helping others is nothing less than a prayer to God.<br />
