To jump start a car with a dead battery, first turn off both cars and put the hoods up so that the jumper cables can easily reach the batteries. Attach one clamp of the jumper cables to the positive terminal of each battery, ensuring the clamps do not touch. Attach the other end of the cables to the engine block or frame of each car. Let the batteries charge for a minute before attempting to start the stalled car. When finished, carefully remove the clamps without touching them together.
