This document provides instructions for configuring a pfSense virtual machine (VM) by assigning it an IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DHCP range. It explains that when starting the pfSense VM, you should select the second option to open the command prompt. From there, you can find the existing IP address and use that as a basis for assigning the pfSense VM a new IP address with different last numbers. The instructions also outline configuring the subnet mask, gateway, DHCP range, username, and accessing the pfSense dashboard.

2. •When you start
your VM with
pfSense, wait
until 17 options
shows up;
•Then, choose
number 2;

3. • Type in the search bar
CMD and open the
Prompt Screen;
• Type the command
ipconfig /all;
• Search for your IPV4
address (near
localdomain) ;
• Type it in the “enter the
new LAN IPV4 address”,
but...

4. PAY ATTENTION: when you will type
you IP address, you need to change
the last numbers of your IP. For
exemple:
•If your IP are 192.168.100.30, then
you will type 192.168.100.90 or
higher.

5. • Subnet Mask you will
choose /24;
• It is highly
recommended that your
gateway’s last number
be 1 (like de exemple
on the picture).
• IPV6 just press enter,
we won’t use it now.

6. • DHCP you type “y”;
• “Start Range and End
Range”: change the
last numbers of your
IP;
• I recommend 5-15
(as shown in the
picture);
• You will learn about
DHCP and IP Range
when you study about
network;

7. Congratulations!
Now you have your
new pfSense (VM)
IP!

in the next step...

new IP on
your
navigator
bar;
•Then, go on
advanced;

Proceed to...
(your IP here);

10. •Username:
admin;
•Passoword:
pfsense;

11. • This is pfSense’s
site;
• Here you can
manage your
pfSense (VM);
• Now, choose
Status>Dahsboard;

12. •If this pop-up
to you, just
accept;
•Then “close”;

13. Now you can install softwares and “play” with pfSense
using this site.
