This document summarizes a study that found liquid calories from beverages do not satisfy appetite as well as solid foods, regardless of whether the calories come from carbohydrates, fats, or proteins. The study found that daily calorie intake was significantly higher when calories from these macronutrients were consumed as beverages rather than solid foods. While many focus on limiting soda and juice, the findings suggest we should be cautious about all liquid calories and aim to get most of our calories from whole foods.
