Self-Cycle surrogacy is a type of surrogacy process, where both the intended parents are biologically linked to the baby. In other words, in self-cycle surrogacy, the embryo is created using the egg of the intended mother and sperm of the intended father, not by the donor’s egg or sperm. Then the embryo is implanted in the surrogate’s womb.

connected to the baby. In the surrogacy process, the eggs can be retrieved either by the intended mother
or a donor.

3. Why is Self-cycle Surrogacy Performed?
The key feature of the surrogacy process is to have a biological child with the help of a surrogate, who
carries the baby in her womb on the behalf of the intended mother. If a woman can produce eggs but
cannot carry the child due to some reason, can opt for this type of surrogacy.
If a woman is soon undergoing cancer treatment or her genetic organs are going to expose to radiation
and unable to bear a child.
If a woman has an absentee of the uterus and cannot carry a child.
How is Self-cycle Surrogacy Performed?
The following events take place during the whole process of Self-cycle surrogacy.
Medical Check-ups of Intended Parents
In Self-cycle surrogacy, both the intended parents must be genetically connected. Dr Shivani Sachdev
Gour – the best surrogacy doctor in Delhi recommends some mandatory medical tests for both intended
mother and father.
1. Tests for Intended Mother: The success of the IVF process depends on the health of the intended
mother.
Blood tests such as CBC (Complete Blood Count), Haemoglobin, Blood group test to tackle any
emergency, and test for diabetes are performed.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) or Antral Follicle Count (AFC) test to identify ovarian reserve.
HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and thyroid tests.
2. Tests for Intended Father: Sperms are retrieved from the intended father to create an embryo.

Semen Collection and Sperm retrieval
Sperms for the IVF process are retrieved from the semen of the intended father. The intended father is
kept on hormonal medication of stimulation to ejaculate healthy semen from which the healthy sperm is
segregated.
4. Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) in IVF
Ovarian Stimulation and Egg Retrieval
The intended mother is kept on the contraceptive medicines for 2 weeks before the process starts. It
helps to sync the menstruation cycle of the intended mother and surrogate. Some other medications are
also given to increase ovulation.
Embryo Formation
The retrieved egg is mixed with the sperm on a dish in a lab using the IVF and kept in the incubator for
fertilization for 3-4 days to form an embryo.
Embryo transfer to Surrogate
The developed embryo then transferred to the surrogate’s uterus using the catheter and ultrasound. The
hormonal supplements prepare the surrogate body to conceive.
