1. How Can You Walk in Unity? (Part 1)
This piece of writing is intended to provide you insights into a biblical subject
– unity and how you can walk in unity to achieve prosperity in life. The subject
is segmented into three parts; the first part talks about how to walk in unity;
the second emphasizes on consequences of disunity; third part takes you
through the glory of unity and its seven elements.
Let’s Embark on a Journey to Entitlement.
“If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is
in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man,
which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit
of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every
man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye
angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give
place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour,
working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to
him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto
the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto

2. the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour,
and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one
to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s
sake hath forgiven you” (Ephesians 4 v 21 – 30).
In order to walk in unity, we need to discard the old nature and adapt to new
living style in the light of God. As a result of this, we enjoin to do the following:
Ephesians 4 v 25: “Wherefore putting away lying, speaks every man truth with
his neighbour. When we talk, let’s speak the truth. He says we should put
away lying because lying belongs to the old nature, which is dead. You can’t
keep lying and be in unity. This is not something to pray about as though it’s
God’s responsibility. The instruction in the scripture is for you (the Christian)
to put away lying; it’s something you have to do.”
Ephesians 4 v 26 & 27: “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon
your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. The Bible says that it’s okay to be
angry if something makes you angry, but don’t dwell on it. Don’t carry your
anger to the next day; don’t remain hurt by something someone said or did to
you years ago. If you do, you are not walking in harmony with the Spirit. Your
anger should be limited even if the other person does not repent. If you
continue in anger, you will be giving place to the devil; so don’t leave room for
the devil with your anger. Control yourself; don’t say you can’t control your
anger because God says you can. Remember that one of the fruit of the spirit
in our lives is self-control.”
Ephesians 4 v 28: “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him
labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have
to give to him that needeth.”
A person who walks in disharmony with the Spirit, is in disharmony with the
brethren. And this leads to real trouble because disobeying is not only a
grievous sin but it also brings disharmony with your soul.
Ephesians 4 v 29: “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto
the hearers.”

3. If you decide to walk in unity, you are no longer supposed to bad-mouth, utter
any corrupt words. You have to utter good and inspiring words while talking
to your brethren.
Verse 30 of the same scripture portion says, “Grieve not the Holy Spirit
of God whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
A translation of Ephesians 4 vs. 29 says, ‘Let no foul or polluting language; or
evil words nor unwholesome or worthless talk ever come out of your mouth,
but only such speech as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of
others’ (Amp). You should not be known for foolish talk. Don’t allow corrupt
communication come out of your mouth.
You need to meditate to gain control over your mind so that you can stop bad
words coming into your mind and being delivered through your mouth.
Meditate on the right things, the Word of God to make you the words utter and
your personality graceful. Corrupt communication, bad-mouthing, foul
language do not take you on the path to entitlement.
Ephesians 4 vs. 31: “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour
and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice.
Be humble to those who have are not humble to you. It is very easy to be
humble, good to someone does well for you in return. Jesus commands us to
be respectful to everyone we meet, we talk to and we work with.
The amplified version says: “Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath,
(passion rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarrelling
(brawling, clamor contention) and slander (evil speaking, abusive or
blasphemous language) be banished from you with all malice.”
When you have a bitter attitude towards people, you would later begin to
slander them and bad-mouth them. You will stretch their offences and that
will lead to sinning against God. Our heavenly Father wants to behave equally
to everyone as He does.
As the Scriptures say, He lets the rain fall on the good and the evil, and lets His
sun shine on the just and the unjust. God wants us to be nice to people who

4. are not nice to us. This is about the manifestation of righteousness and the life
of Christ in us; it’s not about how others have set a standard for us.
Ephesians 4 vs. 32: Be ye kind one to another tender hearted forgiving
one another even as God for Christ sake has forgiven you.
God wishes us to understand what to get rid of in our lives, and also what we
need to add. The amplified version of the Bible says, ‘Become useful and
helpful and kind to one another, tender hearted, (companionate,
understanding, loving hearted) forgiving one another (readily and freely) as
God in Christ forgave you’.
Be useful for everyone; help others to understand their purpose of living. Be
kind at your heart, help needy people; and when people offend you, just
forgive them, as God in Christ Jesus forgave you.
Meditating on this entire portion of Scripture (Ephesians 4: 21-30) will change
your life, build your spirit and help you in your growth. Hallelujah!
