This document outlines three levels of questioning: Level one questions have yes or no answers and require recalling facts directly from a text. Level two questions require processing information by tasks like comparing, contrasting, or analyzing. Level three questions require applying learning to new situations through evaluating, predicting, or justifying responses. Key words are provided to identify each level, along with examples of questions. Strategies are then suggested for integrating higher-order thinking questions into lessons, stations, and problem-solving activities.
