Homeless in Cowlitz
By Lloyd Smith
• Homelessness is the circumstance when
people are without a permanent dwelling,
such as a house or apartment. People who are
homeless are most often unable to acquire
and maintain regular, safe, secure and
adequate housing due to a lack of, or an
unsteady income.

Some faces show the hardships
Some can look pretty good
We find them in the rest stops
They beg enough for cheap beer
Dogs and kids help bring in the cash
Let’s walk the Cowlitz River
Homelessness causes lots of trash
They have all day to pack in junk

Jamie was so happy to find Misty
Trash is everywhere
Lives in a hole
The tents are wet inside
The tents are trash-filled
A million dollar view out the door
Misty suffers from anxiety-Agoraphobia
Dumpster diving is one way to keep
them supplied
Very creative use of milk crate
