community
• To assess based on the findings the type of
health needs in the community.
WHAT IS COMMUNITY HEALTH NEED
ASSESSMENT
• Community health needs assessment(CHNA) is a dynamic process
undertaken to identify the strengths and needs of the community,
enables the community-wide establishment of health priorities and
facilitate collaborative actions planning directed at improving
community health status and quality of life.
• IMPORTANCE OF CHNA
• It provides baseline information about the health status of
community residents.
• Ensures that decisions are based on solid information and evidence
and also policy development.
• It provides information to identify opportunities for disease
prevention, health promotion and protection.
TYPES OF HEALTH ASSESSMENT
COMMUNITY BASED INFORMATION GATHERING
APPROACH
TECHNIQUE BASED ON SERVICE UTILIZATION DATA
SOCIAL INDICATOR APPROACH
THE CONVERGENT ANALYSIS APPROACH.
BRIEF HISTORY OF NGYIRESIA
• Ngyiresia is a fishing community which is a
suburb of the Sekondi -Takoradi metropolis.
It is about a 10 minutes drive from Sekondi in the
Western Region.

CONCLUSION
• From the data analysis made above, we conclude
that, the most dominant disease in Ngyiresia is
malaria which recorded 55%.
• The main cause of the diseases(malaria)
according to the data analysis is due to poor
drainage system and poor sanitation in the
community.
• The people of Ngyiresia chose healthcare
centre(clinic) as the most needed health needs.
RECOMMENDATIONS
• More research studies should be conducted to
uncover the other possible causes of the
diseases in the community.
• The government should empower the local
council to enforce sanitation policies in the
community.
