There are two types of business registration certificates in Hong Kong: one-year certificates and three-year certificates. The fees are fixed based on the commencement date shown on the certificate. For new businesses, this commencement date is the date the business began operations, not the date of registration. For companies incorporated in Hong Kong, the commencement date is the date of incorporation. The fee for a one-year business registration certificate starting on or after August 1, 2011 is HK$2,450, consisting of a HK$2,000 registration fee and HK$450 levy. Previous orders reduced the fees for certificates starting between 2009 and 2011.
