on these books.

In 1898, George Albert Smith made his ‘special patented contrivance’. His
device allowed ghosts to be seen on film.
In 1910, the first version of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein was made.
In 1911, Notre Dame De Paris was released, filmed by Pathe.. It was the first
full length film with a monster in.
In 1912, The Vengeance of Egypt was released by Gaumont, it was the first
length horror film.
In 1928, The man who laughs became the first horror film with sound, even
the credits were read out.
In 1952, the first 3D film was made, it was a very cheap film but still makes a
fortune at the box office.
In 1980, Paramount released Friday the 13th after the success of Halloween in
order to cash in.
In 1996, The tongue and cheek approach to horror films was taken by Wes
Craven, in his slasher film scream.
