Our design is based on your design.
You’re unique. You’re human.
And from your brain to your body
and even the way you like to
work, you’re constantly evolving.
That’s why we designed our Thrive
portfolio to adapt to you, letting you
move and work the way your body
was meant to. Whoever you are and
however you work, we’re here to
help you thrive.
What Does It Mean to Thrive?
The answer’s different for all of us. Thrive lets you choose the
right mix of tools to support all the things you do, like thinking,
creating, and collaborating. From your ergonomic chair to your table,
technology supports, lighting, and work tools, the whole portfolio
is designed to respond to your changing needs throughout the day.
When you put it all together, work can be a healthier, more fulfilling
part of life. When it all comes together, everyone can thrive.
3Introduction
Good for You.
Good for Business, Too.
When you give your body the
support it needs to thrive, a funny
thing happens. It can help your
business thrive, too. Research shows
that incorporating ergonomics and
taking a proactive approach, can
make a measurable difference in what
companies spend on healthcare and
workers’ compensation each year.
47%
Office workers spend 47% of their time
doing computer related work.
Each year back pain costs
companies an estimated
$7,400,000,000
91%
Computer vision syndrome affects
almost 66 million people. 91% of all
computer users suffer from eyestrain.
$17.50
8/10
8 out of 10 workers experience
back pain at some point.
Return on Investment
For every dollar invested in an
ergonomic intervention strategy
in an office environment, there
is a return of $17.50.
3X
At age 60, our eyes need 3 times
as much light to see as they did at 20.

Our Products, Way Ahead
Thrive comes from a long line of innovators, design experts, and
award winners. Years of studying how people work have produced
a string of firsts that help people feel better and work better. And
there are plenty more where those came from.

You Sit More Than You Sleep
A comfortable bed is important for your body, but studies show
you actually spend more time in your chair. At Herman Miller,
we understand how much sitting asks of our bodies, and we’ve
designed the most innovative chairs on earth to meet those needs.
Millions of people spend the majority of their day with us. Now it’s
your turn to try our chairs, too.

PostureFit Sacral Support
Proper seated posture is essential to feeling as good at the end
of your day as you do at the beginning. We feel so strongly about
helping you do your best work that we’ve built our game-changing
PostureFit sacral support into the backrest of every ergonomic work
chair since Aeron.
Healthy seated alignment starts at the base of your spine, or your
sacrum. PostureFit sacral support prevents slouching, which can
compress your discs and prevent spinal fluid from flowing through.
Instead, you stay in a healthy seated position, keeping your blood
and oxygen flowing and preventing back and neck pain. The only
thing you need to focus on is the work at hand.
Balanced Recline
Reclining in your chair should be as mindless as breathing.
No one wants to have to work to sit back in their chair, or to
maintain a seated reclined position.
Herman Miller’s proprietary tilt technology is designed to mimic
the natural movement and pivot points of your body, keeping you
balanced, regardless of your size and stature, as you move from
upright to reclined seated positions.
Dynamic Support
The best work chairs fit you – they don’t ask you to fit them.
From the Pixelated Support in the Embody seat and backrest
to the Pellicle suspension in Aeron, Herman Miller work seating
features dynamic surfaces to conform to your unique shape and
seated movements, eliminating pressure points and allowing
blood and oxygen to flow, keeping you focused and alert.
Zoned support is built into the suspension backs of many of our
work chairs, providing more support along your spine, where you
need it most, and less along the edges of the back, where you
need to be able to flex and turn. This creates the perfect flex map
to support your unique back shape and sitting style.
Backed by Science
Herman Miller seating is
recognized for its distinctive
design, but it’s the science
behind our seating that creates
that “WOW” experience every
time you sit down.
Embody
®
Designed by Bill Stumpf
and Jeff Weber
The Pixelated Support in the seat
and backrest form a dynamic surface
that stimulates blood and oxygen flow
by reducing seated pressure. All that
oxygen helps you think better.
How It Works For You
The chair back adjusts instinctively
to every move you make and keeps
support of your lower back constant.
Embody keeps you in a neutral,
balanced posture as you work,
so you stay relaxed and focused.

The Science of Healthier Sitting
More than 30 professionals contributed their
expertise to the design of Embody. Physicians and
PhDs in biomechanics, vision, physical therapy,
and ergonomics helped test hypotheses, review
prototypes, and conduct studies to guide the
development of the first health-positive chair.
Aeron
®
Designed by Bill Stumpf
and Don Chadwick
It’s the first ergonomic work chair to
replace upholstery with breathable,
form-fitting suspension that adapts
to virtually every body and keeps you
cool and focused.
How It Works For You
Patented, breathable Pellicle
®
suspension material lets heat and
moisture dissipate while giving your
body dynamic support.
PostureFit sacral support aligns
your lower back in a health-positive
position, decreasing muscle fatigue
and improving endurance during long
periods of sitting.
The chair’s tilt design mimics the
body’s natural pivot points at the
hips, knees, and ankles, supporting
you naturally from an upright to fully
reclined position.

Reinventing Support
Fidgeting is one of the first signs of discomfort.
Typically, we start to shift in our seats when
pressure points inhibit blood and oxygen flow
or we get too warm. Aeron’s Pellicle suspension
eliminates the very things that cause discomfort.
The suspension conforms to your body, evenly
supporting your seated motions and eliminating
pressure points.  In addition, Pellicle allows
moisture to dissipate and air to circulate, keeping
you cool, comfortable, and focused during long
periods of sitting.

Inspired by Suspension
Designer Yves Béhar began his research into a new
work chair by looking at examples of design that
deliver the most with the least. He wondered: Can
the same principles that suspend a bridge over
water be applied to a chair? The answer was yes,
and the result is SAYL. Its suspended, frameless
back encourages healthy movement.

Comparing Chairs
What’s important to you?
Whatever it is, we have just
the seat to fit the bill.

Consider Changing
Your Position On This
Your body’s not designed to stay in one place all day. So if you have
to sit, you need a chair that lets you move naturally. And if you can
switch between sitting and standing, even better. Fewer aches and
pains, fewer doctor visits, and happier employees. Performance
tables give you lots to feel good about.
A Platform for Productivity
Designed to support a variety of
work tools and work styles, our
tables create an important link
between your body and all of
your other ergonomic solutions.
29Performance Tables
Fixed Tables
Because work can happen anywhere, you need tables designed
to go here, there, and well, everywhere. The fine lines, simple
aesthetics, and unlimited options of Everywhere let you shape a
cohesive work environment around the needs of any person, room,
or activity.
Adjustable Tables
Lead, and your furniture will follow, letting you move between a variety
of healthy postures throughout the day. The unique worksurface
of Envelop moves back and forth, staying comfortably within reach
whether you’re sitting up or leaning back in your chair. And Renew
Sit-to-Stand Tables encourage you to move, raising and lowering your
worksurface intuitively whenever you want to sit or stand.
31Performance Tables
Renew™
Sit-to-Stand Table
Designed by Brian Alexander
Intuitive control lets you change your
position naturally, switching between
two healthy postures: standing and
sitting in a chair with PostureFit.
How it Works for You
Integrated cord management supports
your table, technology, and task light
while remaining neatly out of sight.
Top-to-bottom design looks good from
any angle, protects your knees under
the table, and integrates easily with the
furniture you have.

Switch It Up
A physical workload that’s too low (sitting all day)
or too high (standing all day) increases the risk
of back pain. Ergonomists recommend standing
anywhere from five to twenty minutes every hour.
Intuitive switch moves the table up
or down while you keep your eyes
on your work.
Integrated cord management presents
a clean look from any angle.
A hinged cable management tray keeps
cords accessible but cleanly out of sight.
Access to AC and DC power above and
below the worksurface is seamlessly
integrated into Renew.

35Performance Tables
Everywhere™
Designed by Dan Grabowski
Two traits give these tables their
anywhere versatility. Fine lines—
a refined, single aesthetic means they
complement any space, bringing unity
and visual calm. And no boundaries—
a simple kit of top shapes and leg
styles can be combined in nearly
limitless ways. If these choices aren’t
enough for you, feel free to create
your own; Everywhere tables are
easy to customize.
How it Works for You
Choose from multiple top shapes,
leg styles, and finishes for a custom look.
Available with casters to rearrange fast.
Use for meetings, training, a mobile
work surface—or all of the above.
Optional flip tops let you nest tables

All Together Now
Envelop is the first desk designed to help you, your
chair, your work surface and your technology work
in harmony. After researching the way people shift
between reclining, sitting up straight and leaning
forward, Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber hit upon the
ingenious–and unheard of–idea of designing a
work surface that could move as fluidly as you do,
keeping you in healthy alignment no matter what
posture you choose.

What’s Technology Turning You Into?
The “turtle” is just one of the awkward positions you can get into
when technology gets out of line with your body. Using technology
support tools like monitor and keyboard supports can change that,
keeping you in harmony with all sorts of equipment and whatever
device is invented next. All you need are a few simple adjustments
to take control and feel human again.
41Technology Support
Dynamic Monitor Supports
A fluid range of motion lets you position tablets, laptops, monitors,
or multiple screens wherever you need them, even below eye level
for bifocal or touchscreen use.
Multiple Monitor Solutions
Did you know that adding a second monitor can boost your
productivity up to 40%. Our high-density solutions are extra-strong
to hold multiple screens right where you need them and scalable
to accommodate more screens as your needs change.
Healthy Keying Postures
Much like the steering wheel in a car, you can tilt and adjust a
keyboard support to suit the way you work. Together, a keyboard
mechanism, tray, and mousing surface help you comfortably interact
with your technology and get the most out of your work chair.
Easy Access to Power and Data
Keeping power and data access at the desktop prevents awkward
stooping and bending every time you need to plug in, charge up,
or unplug from a shared workspace.
The Well-Adjusted Workplace
We’ve put together a whole
range of adjustable supports to
help your technology conform
to your needs.
Anywhere You Want It
Everyone’s eyes are different, and now everyone’s
perfect monitor position can be unique, too. The
entire Flo family is designed with smooth, intuitive

making it a truly dynamic support.

Do You See What I See?
Each of us sees the world differently depending on our age, the
light in the room, and even the work we’re doing. Just because you
have enough light to see and read doesn’t mean you have enough to
support your eyes’ health. Once you’ve experienced how much better
you feel with proper lighting, you’ll see how essential it is to your
sense of well-being. A personal task light is as important as any other
tool in your work area, letting you shape an environment that helps
you do your job more effectively.
73Personal Lighting
Clear, Even Light
Our lights are color rendered to help you interpret colors correctly.
Unlike typical LEDs, they’re also designed to cast light evenly,
avoiding spotlight effects and helping you see your work.
User Control
All lights in our collection are designed to let you choose when,
where, and how to light your workspace appropriately. Moveable
bases and articulating arms put the light precisely where you need
it, and dimming switches on many lights let you adjust for certain
tasks or times of day.
Energy Savings
LEDs use 75 percent less energy and last 25 times longer than
traditional bulbs. Auto shutoff on most lights prevents wasted
energy when people are away from their desks, helping you save
even more.
Aesthetic Options
From classic to contemporary and minimalist to statement-
making, our lighting collection has beautifully designed options
for any environment.
A Visible Difference
From light quality to personal
control, energy savings, and
design options, our portfolio
is full of bright ideas.
Tone™
Designed by Tom Newhouse
Tone balances performance and
price like no other. A swiveling base
and articulated joints give precise
control over what you light. The user
adjustability, dimmer, and automatic
shutoff make it one of the best LED
lighting values in the market.
How it Works for You
Freestanding base, clamp mount,
or rail tile mount fits any environment.
An intuitive touch turns it on and off.
Auto shutoff saves energy by turning
off after 9 hours.
Draws just over 6 watts.

  • 2. Our design is based on your design. You’re unique. You’re human. And from your brain to your body and even the way you like to work, you’re constantly evolving. That’s why we designed our Thrive portfolio to adapt to you, letting you move and work the way your body was meant to. Whoever you are and however you work, we’re here to help you thrive.
  • 3. What Does It Mean to Thrive? The answer’s different for all of us. Thrive lets you choose the right mix of tools to support all the things you do, like thinking, creating, and collaborating. From your ergonomic chair to your table, technology supports, lighting, and work tools, the whole portfolio is designed to respond to your changing needs throughout the day. When you put it all together, work can be a healthier, more fulfilling part of life. When it all comes together, everyone can thrive. 3Introduction
  • 4. Good for You. Good for Business, Too. When you give your body the support it needs to thrive, a funny thing happens. It can help your business thrive, too. Research shows that incorporating ergonomics and taking a proactive approach, can make a measurable difference in what companies spend on healthcare and workers’ compensation each year. 47% Office workers spend 47% of their time doing computer related work. Each year back pain costs companies an estimated $7,400,000,000 91% Computer vision syndrome affects almost 66 million people. 91% of all computer users suffer from eyestrain. $17.50 8/10 8 out of 10 workers experience back pain at some point. Return on Investment For every dollar invested in an ergonomic intervention strategy in an office environment, there is a return of $17.50. 3X At age 60, our eyes need 3 times as much light to see as they did at 20.
  • 5. 7Section Header Our Knowledge Goes Way Back 2010 Herman Miller acquires Colebrook Bosson Saunders (CBS), a worldwide leader in ergonomic work tools and technology. 2014 The Renew ™ Sit-to-Stand Table is the first designed around you, with intuitive controls, cord management, and rounded edges underneath. 2010 Flo ® (Red Dot Award) becomes one of the world’s first monitor arms to support progressive lens users and touch screens. 2006 Herman Miller embraces energy-efficient LED technology with the ergonomic Leaf ® personal light. 2010 SAYL ® is the first work chair to offer smart suspension and health-positive back support at an attainable price point. 2008 Embody ® becomes the first work chair designed to create harmony between the human body and the computer. 2014 Mirra ® 2 redefines dynamic support by inventing the Butterfly Back, which merges flexible fabric with polymer veins. 2002 PostureFit ® revolutionizes the industry, supporting the base of your spine to hold your back in healthy seated alignment. 1930 Herman Miller shifts focus from traditional furniture to products designed for the changing needs of Americans. 1964 Action Office ® ,designed for variations in posture, offers the world’s first sit-to-stand product. 1991 Herman Miller becomes a charter member of the Office Ergonomic Research Committee. 1994 Aeron ® (Design of the Decade) is the first work chair to use non-foam fabric. 1946 Charles and Ray Eames introduce their molded plywood chair (Design of the Century). 1976 Designer Bill Stumpf introduces ergonomics to the contract furniture industry. It’s no wonder we named his first ergonomic chair Ergon ® . 1991 Wishbone ® , the first flatscreen monitor arm in the world, arrives on the market. Our Products, Way Ahead Thrive comes from a long line of innovators, design experts, and award winners. Years of studying how people work have produced a string of firsts that help people feel better and work better. And there are plenty more where those came from.
  • 6. 9Section Header You Sit More Than You Sleep A comfortable bed is important for your body, but studies show you actually spend more time in your chair. We feel so strongly about helping you do your best work that we’ve built our game-changing PostureFit sacral support into the backrest of every ergonomic work chair since Aeron. Healthy seated alignment starts at the base of your spine, or your sacrum. PostureFit sacral support prevents slouching, which can compress your discs and prevent spinal fluid from flowing through.  Instead, you stay in a healthy seated position, keeping your blood and oxygen flowing and preventing back and neck pain. The only thing you need to focus on is the work at hand. Balanced Recline Reclining in your chair should be as mindless as breathing.  No one wants to have to work to sit back in their chair, or to maintain a seated reclined position. Herman Miller’s proprietary tilt technology is designed to mimic the natural movement and pivot points of your body, keeping you balanced, regardless of your size and stature, as you move from upright to reclined seated positions.  Dynamic Support The best work chairs fit you – they don’t ask you to fit them.  From the Pixelated Support in the Embody seat and backrest to the Pellicle suspension in Aeron, Herman Miller work seating features dynamic surfaces to conform to your unique shape and seated movements, eliminating pressure points and allowing blood and oxygen to flow, keeping you focused and alert.  Zoned support is built into the suspension backs of many of our work chairs, providing more support along your spine, where you need it most, and less along the edges of the back, where you need to be able to flex and turn. This creates the perfect flex map to support your unique back shape and sitting style. Backed by Science Herman Miller seating is recognized for its distinctive design, but it’s the science behind our seating that creates that “WOW” experience every time you sit down.
  • 8. Embody ® Designed by Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber The Pixelated Support in the seat and backrest form a dynamic surface that stimulates blood and oxygen flow by reducing seated pressure. All that oxygen helps you think better. How It Works For You The chair back adjusts instinctively to every move you make and keeps support of your lower back constant. Embody keeps you in a neutral, balanced posture as you work, so you stay relaxed and focused. Warranty/Product Number 12-year, 3-shift parts and labor CN122AWAA 13Seating The Science of Healthier Sitting More than 30 professionals contributed their expertise to the design of Embody. • 9. Aeron ® Designed by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick It’s the first ergonomic work chair to replace upholstery with breathable, form-fitting suspension that adapts to virtually every body and keeps you cool and focused. How It Works For You Patented, breathable Pellicle ® suspension material lets heat and moisture dissipate while giving your body dynamic support. PostureFit sacral support aligns your lower back in a health-positive position, decreasing muscle fatigue and improving endurance during long periods of sitting. The chair’s tilt design mimics the body’s natural pivot points at the hips, knees, and ankles, supporting you naturally from an upright to fully reclined position. Warranty/Product Number 12-year, 3-shifts, parts and labor AE113AWB Reinventing Support Fidgeting is one of the first signs of discomfort.  Typically, we start to shift in our seats when pressure points inhibit blood and oxygen flow or we get too warm. Aeron’s Pellicle suspension eliminates the very things that cause discomfort.  The suspension conforms to your body, evenly supporting your seated motions and eliminating pressure points.  In addition, Pellicle allows moisture to dissipate and air to circulate, keeping you cool, comfortable, and focused during long periods of sitting. 15Seating
