2) Attempts to increase oversight and regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the early 2000s were blocked by Democrats who had received large political donations from them.
3) The risky practices of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ultimately led to their bankruptcy and taxpayer bailouts totaling billions of dollars during the 2008 financial crisis.
Estate Planning After The 2010 Tax Act
During this webinar the presenters will review typical estate planning issues for single and married persons that evolved after the 2010 Tax Act was passed. The 2010 Tax Act made major changes to federal estate tax laws. We will explore how the increased exemption amount affects existing estate plans, the continuing role for trusts, how the portability of the exemption amount can be used by married couples, and related planning issues.

The Local Emergency Financial Assistance Loan Board appointed Robert Mason as the new Emergency Financial Manager for Highland Park, replacing Arthur Blackwell who had served since 2005. Mason has over a decade of experience in both public and private sector management. The board also approved additional financial controls for local governments under an Emergency Financial Manager, including monthly chief financial officer reports and quarterly financial reviews. These changes come after it was determined Blackwell had authorized payments from Highland Park without board approval and has been directed to reimburse the city.

The Board of Directors for the National Association of Realtors® today voted in favor of a motion presented by NAR’s Professional Standards Committee making it a violation for Realtors® to use harassing or hate speech toward any of the protected classes under Article 10 of NAR’s Code of Ethics.
- 29. Those include race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation and gender identity. Any complaint alleging a violation of Article 10 as illustrated by Standard of Practice 10-5 can now be brought to a hearing panel at a local Realtor® association, which will be asked to assess the circumstances of each individual case.
