Lying is addressed in the Ten Commandments. The document discusses how even Christians struggle with lying and provides examples from the Bible where people lied, including Adam and Eve, Cain, and Ananias and Sapphira. It asserts that Satan is the father of lies and lying goes against God's nature of truth. The document recommends strategies for addressing lying, which include diagnosing and capturing wrong thoughts, declaring and speaking the truth, and persisting in truth through challenges without giving up.
This talk explains the first two petals of TULIP and focuses on the question: do I choose God or does God choose me? These distinctions form the basis of Reformed Theology.
The document discusses how to overcome the world as a Christian. It explains that there are three things that make up "all that is in the world" - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. It provides examples of how these manifest and encourages believers to overcome temptations and cravings by putting their flesh to death through repentance and fasting. The ultimate goal is to die to the world and be led by the Spirit of God instead of yielding to sinful desires.
Class 5 Walking by the spirit - John MannellGLCBSLakeland
This document discusses walking by the Spirit and not using freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. It warns against legalism and license, and says freedom should be used as an opportunity to serve others. It contrasts the deeds of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit. It encourages keeping in step with the Spirit and restoring the fallen, like mending nets. It emphasizes unity in Christ and bearing one another's burdens.
This document discusses the relationship between faith and works in Christianity. It argues that true faith is demonstrated through works, and that we will be judged based on our deeds, not just our beliefs. Over several sections, it makes the case that: 1) Faith without works is dead; 2) Christians cannot separate their faith from their works; 3) Works are involved in our salvation process; and 4) We will be judged according to our deeds, not just our claimed faith. The overall message is that true saving faith in Christianity necessarily involves righteous actions and obedience to God's commands.
This document contains a quote from Winnie the Pooh about going out to meet people, a passage from Philippians about putting one's confidence in Christ rather than earthly things, and a brief discussion of the Jewish practice of Sh'ma which is a declaration of availability to discuss spirituality. It also mentions climate change and asks what people forecast when someone is coming. The document touches on several unrelated spiritual and religious topics in a brief and disjointed manner.
The document discusses the importance of strong obedience to God and resisting false teachings. It notes that obeying God often triggers opposition from others but can release God's miracles. True obedience requires faith and trusting God's promises even when we are tested. The document warns about false teachings that deny the deity of Christ or claim there are multiple messiahs. It emphasizes that we must obey the true teachings of the Bible alone.

This document provides a summary and analysis of Romans 3:1-8. It begins by giving context about Romans 2 and how Paul has argued that both Jews and Gentiles are sinners in need of God's righteousness. Some may object that this calls God's faithfulness into question. Paul responds that even if some or all Jews are unbelieving, God remains faithful. He cites Psalm 51 to support that God's judgment of sinful people vindicates his righteousness. However, some argue that if God's judgment magnifies his righteousness, then he would be unjust to condemn sinners. Paul rejects this argument as sophistry and word games. Those who play games with God's word and try to deny apparent contradictions will face
The document discusses Paul's message in his letter to the Romans about salvation. It explores several key points:
1) That being a child of God is not determined by physical descent but by God's promise, and that Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated, showing God's sovereignty in election.
2) That God has mercy on whom He wills and hardens whom He wills, demonstrating His sovereignty and that salvation is not by human will but by God.
3) That the Israelites sought to establish their own righteousness rather than submitting to God's righteousness revealed in Christ, and that faith comes from hearing the message about Christ.
4) That the word is near to bring faith and

This document provides a summary of Romans 1-2:20 from the book "The Study of Romans 1-2:20" by Jean Smith. It discusses several key points from the text, including how Paul responds to objections from imaginary Jewish questioners about Jews receiving rewards or punishments according to their deeds. Paul explains the advantages Jews had in being entrusted with God's revelations. It also summarizes Paul countering arguments that God would be unjust to punish human sins. Overall, the document analyzes Romans 1-2:20 through the lens of Jean Smith's book on the topic.
This document discusses the biblical definitions and concepts of repentance and faith. It defines repentance as a change of mind, heart, and actions that involves turning from sin and toward God. True repentance recognizes one's sin and need for God's forgiveness, agrees with God about deserving judgment, and lives according to repentance by submitting to God. Faith is defined as trusting in and embracing God through believing and relying on Him. The document emphasizes that repentance and faith, which involve surrendering to God and submitting to His truth and kingdom, are necessary for receiving salvation.
This document provides a summary and copyright notice for a book on living a victorious Christian life. It states that the article is copyrighted by Zac Poonen in 1982 to prevent misuse. Permission is given to distribute the article for free if it is not altered and the author is credited. The document then lists the chapter titles of the book, which cover topics like faith, God's control over circumstances, and God's love for believers like he loved Jesus.
The document discusses the qualities of true believers based on Philippians 3:3. It identifies five qualities: 1) they rejoice in the Lord, 2) exercise discernment, 3) worship in the Spirit, 4) glory in Christ Jesus, and 5) put no confidence in the flesh. It elaborates on each quality, explaining that true worship is powered by the Spirit, true believers boast only in God's grace and what Christ has done for them, and they do not rely on their own human abilities or works to earn salvation or favor with God.
M2013 s47 only those of faith 8 4-13 pm sermonJames Bradshaw
The document is a summary of a sermon on Galatians 3:1-9 about faith. It makes three key points:
1. Faith is being sure of things we cannot see, like eternal life. Faith is based on conviction from evidence.
2. Paul rebuked the Galatians for being "bewitched" or led astray from obeying the truth. True faith involves obedience to God and his word.
3. True faith comes from hearing the gospel, not from works of the law. We are led by the Spirit through hearing and obeying God's word, not by trying to be justified through works.
Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons are not considered true Christians based on their beliefs about Jesus and God. Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus was created and not God himself, contradicting the Bible which says Jesus is God manifested in the flesh. Mormons believe humans can become gods like Jesus, but the Bible says there is only one God and nothing created can become God. Key verses used by JWs to argue Jesus is not God are taken out of context and contradicted by other verses, showing Jesus as the creator and sustainer of all things, proving his divinity.
Faith is believing in God and His promises based on the evidence, even when things are not seen. This belief in God brings about obedience to Him. True faith is not simply an intellectual belief, as even demons believe, but rather it is a belief that produces good works. Faith requires obedience to God and trusting in His promises for salvation and eternal life, even when facing trials, by keeping one's eyes fixed on Jesus Christ.
I John 2:28-3:3 Tests for Christians. Do you abide in Christ? Do you practice righteousness? Who knows you? Are you a child of God? Are you pure, just as He is pure? What is your identity?
God has accepted people based on faith long before Jesus' resurrection. Abraham was considered the "Father of Faith" because he believed God's promises without seeing their fulfillment, which was counted to him as righteousness. Some key heavenly things we can have faith in include Jesus being God, his death and resurrection to forgive sins, and the promise of eternal life through faith in him.
Developing an Effective and Powerful PrayerStanley Tan
This document discusses developing an effective prayer life. It emphasizes that prayer should come from a righteous person living in obedience to God, with living faith, and purity of heart. Righteous people like Elijah demonstrated prayer's power through answered prayers. God promises to answer the prayers of those who obey Him and remain faithful. Living obediently to God's commands allows one's prayers to be effective.
I John 4:1-6 tests for christians 3 - the test of false teaching. Bluffing your way. Do you confess the Son? Do you listen to the Son? Do you obey the Son? Do you pass the test?
God does not approve of lying. The document discusses several examples from the Bible where people lied, such as Abraham twice saying his wife Sarah was his sister, and the midwives in Egypt lying to Pharaoh about why they spared the Hebrew baby boys. While these individuals were not punished for their lies, that does not mean God condoned their actions. The document also notes that just because God blessed someone like Abraham does not indicate approval of their lies - God blesses people despite their weaknesses and sins. Lying is explicitly called a sin in other Bible passages cited.

2) It discusses the three temptations Jesus faced - to turn stones to bread, throw himself off the temple, and receive power and glory without the cross. Jesus resisted each temptation by quoting scripture.
3) The devil's temptations sought to get Jesus to prove himself without following God's plan, but Jesus remained faithful through the confirmation of his baptism. After the third temptation, angels
This document contains information from a Sunday school class on how to share one's testimony and faith as a witness. It includes examples from the Bible of testimonies, such as Paul's testimony in three parts. Key elements of a testimony identified are one's life before faith, how they came to faith, and how their life has changed since. The document also provides tips on overcoming excuses for not sharing one's testimony, and encourages participants to write out their own testimony to bring to the next class.

The document summarizes a sermon given on John 15:7, in which there are three key points:
1) There are three common interpretations of what the "burned branches" in John 15:6 refer to, but the best interpretation is that they represent professing Christians who are not genuinely saved.
2) John 15:7 promises that if believers remain connected to Christ and His word remains in them, their prayers will be granted according to God's will.
3) When believers bear much fruit, it brings God glory and proves that they are truly Christ's disciples. The sermon encourages believers to "make a wish" and have faith that God will grant their prayers according to His
1. The passage discusses the concept of perfection and being perfect in love.
2. It notes that perfection is possible according to scripture but does not occur at justification or at death, rather it can happen while living.
3. Perfection or being perfect in love refers to being saved from sin and experiencing perfect love, described as rejoicing, praying without ceasing, and giving thanks in all things.
The document discusses biblical passages related to sexual purity and morality. It provides numerous quotes encouraging believers to flee sexual immorality and lust, honor their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, and remain faithful in marriage. The quotes also teach that God understands human temptation but provides a way of escape, and that Jesus can empathize with human weakness through his own experiences with temptation.

The document discusses chapters 7 and 8 of the book of Romans. It examines how the law increases sin and death while grace through Jesus Christ brings righteousness and life. Paul addresses how believers are no longer bound under the law but are now free to serve God through the Spirit. He describes the internal struggle between desires of the flesh and obedience to God.
The document contains multiple passages from the Bible and from C.S. Lewis' book The Screwtape Letters discussing spiritual beings such as demons and angels. Lewis discusses his view that demons are fallen angels who have become enemies of God by abusing their free will, but are not opposite to God in the same way that good and bad humans are not opposites. The Bible passages encourage believers to rely on God's strength and armor when facing spiritual battles against evil forces.
1) Training for a disciplined life involves exercising self-control over one's thoughts, desires, and actions through constant practice just as an athlete trains their body.
2) Living a disciplined life requires running the race of life with endurance, laying aside distractions, and resisting sin just as Jesus endured hostility without growing weary.
3) Those who live by the Spirit rather than their sinful nature are able to crucify their sinful passions and produce righteousness through enduring hardship and discipline as training for life.
1. After being saved, one should consecrate themselves to God by giving their lives fully to Him. This involves becoming a living sacrifice and allowing God to work through you.
2. To consecrate oneself, one must develop an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and live according to the Spirit rather than the flesh. This involves crucifying sinful desires of the flesh.
3. Additionally, consecrating oneself involves knowing your identity and privileges as a child of God, such as having power over sin and Satan through Christ.
Ephesians for Beginners - #12 - FaithfulnessBibleTalk.tv
This section concludes the letter by establishing faithfulness as the crowning glory in the believer's proper response to God's offer of salvation and the blessings that come with it. (Eph. 6:10-24)
The document discusses key terms related to active listening including giving feedback, attending, checking perception, restating, supporting, interpreting, being quiet, summarizing, probing, and having a Christ-like attitude without judgment. It then lists the criteria for substance dependence according to the DSM-IV including tolerance, withdrawal, spending a lot of time obtaining substances, continuing use despite problems, and giving up activities. Finally, it provides several Bible verses about addiction that discuss temptation, resisting the devil, putting off the flesh, and submitting to God.
The document discusses how the devil targets Christians to lead them astray from God. It notes that the devil's primary tactics are to make Christians judgmental, unsubmissive, self-righteous, and focused on worldly things rather than God. It encourages Christians to remain humble, obedient to God and their spiritual leaders, and focused on living according to God's word in order to resist the devil's attempts to destroy their faith.
This document summarizes a sermon about standing firm in the freedom that Christ has given us. The sermon discusses how Christ has freed us from slavery to sin by his sacrifice. It warns against allowing past persuasions to hinder our obedience to the truth. While we have been called to liberty, our freedom is not a license to indulge the flesh but should be used to serve one another through love. The sermon encourages remaining faithful to avoid penalties, and finding rest by taking Christ's yoke upon us.
This document discusses the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer according to passages from Romans and other books of the Bible. It makes four key points:
1. The Spirit wants to bring a new mindset focused on life and peace rather than fleshly desires.
2. The Spirit provides assurance of salvation for those who believe in Jesus Christ.
3. The Spirit works to change a person's affections away from sinful things.
4. The Spirit empowers believers to say no to sin and live according to his power rather than gratifying fleshly desires.
The document discusses the full armor of God that Christians must wear in their spiritual battle against evil forces. It describes each piece of armor mentioned in Ephesians 6:10-18, including the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit. It emphasizes that as Christians, we are enlisted in God's army and must stand strong through putting on this armor so that we can advance God's kingdom and set people free from captivity.
This document analyzes 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, which discusses Christians acting as "babies" rather than being "spiritual." It summarizes that:
1) Some Christians were acting as "babies" by following certain leaders instead of God, showing a lack of spiritual discernment.
2) These Christians could only handle "milk" (basic teachings) rather than "meat" (deeper teachings), and were not able to understand complex doctrines.
3) There was "envying, strife, and divisions" among these Christians, showing they were acting out of carnal/fleshly motives rather than being spiritual.
The conclusion encourages Christians to gain spiritual
This document discusses spiritual warfare and the devil. It notes that Peter describes the devil as real, active, conniving, and destructive, prowling like a roaring lion seeking people to devour. C.S. Lewis warns against two errors: disbelieving in demons or feeling an excessive, unhealthy interest in them. The document outlines that spiritual warfare is not the same as the effects of the fall, and that Satan is a created being who is not omniscient, omnipresent, or omnipotent like God. It encourages putting on the full armor of God by taking up the shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Galatians 6:1-10 discusses the concept of "sowing goodness." There are three main points:
1) Sowing goodness means lightening the load for others by helping those who have fallen and bearing each other's burdens.
2) It also means taking care of your own responsibilities and duties. Each person bears their own load.
3) Sowing goodness involves finding opportunities to do good for all people, especially fellow Christians, and persevering in good works without growing weary. What you sow is what you will reap.

This document discusses spiritual weapons and protection for spiritual warfare. It outlines four spiritual weapons: commitment to Christ's cause through righteousness and purity; zeal and single-minded devotion to God; the Word of God; and spiritual gifts like wisdom, discernment, and tongues. It also describes the armor of God for protection: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. It emphasizes using these weapons and armor through daily Bible reading, prayer, and resisting the devil. The conclusion exhorts balancing not attributing everything to the devil while still resisting him through submission to God.

Foundation Stone #10: Resurrection of the Dead - SpirituallyRick Bruderick
Every person is born dead - spiritually. When we realize it, we have an opportunity to start over, to be born again.
This is the 12th lesson in this Foundations of Christianity series.
The document discusses what it means to be a man and have strength at the center of one's soul because of Jesus. It provides several Bible verses about depending on God, having purpose beyond self-interest, having strength to overcome challenges and keep moving forward, and winning moral battles. It then discusses having an attractive relationship with one's wife through sacrificial and tender love.
God sent an angel before the Israelites to guide them and protect them as they traveled. God commanded the Israelites to carefully obey the angel and not rebel against him. If they obeyed the angel and God's commands, God would drive out their enemies and bless them. However, the Israelites did not fully obey and made covenants with the inhabitants of the land, which led to difficulties. The passage warns believers to carefully obey God's word like the Israelites failed to do, so as not to fall into the same disobedience.
The document contains the text of several proclamations and declarations from the United States Congress and presidents designating national days of thanksgiving. It includes excerpts from George Washington's 1789 proclamation urging Americans to give thanks for their freedom and prosperity. It also contains Abraham Lincoln's 1863 proclamation calling for thanksgiving and prayer during the Civil War to ask for God's mercy and healing of the nation. The Bible passage from Colossians 3 discusses putting on compassion and forgiveness as God's chosen people and letting the word of Christ dwell within.
The document discusses how the Israelites were a "stiff-necked people" who resisted God and the Holy Spirit. It describes how after Moses delayed in returning from Mount Sinai, the Israelites demanded that Aaron make them gods to worship. Aaron fashioned a golden calf for them to worship. When Moses saw this, he broke the stone tablets and had the calf ground into powder as punishment for their idolatry and disobedience. The Israelites' stubbornness and resistance to God is also mentioned in Acts 7:38-41.
Ha78 11272016 give them something to eat slidesJames Bradshaw
The document provides a summary of a sermon about Jesus feeding 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. It discusses the context of a large crowd following Jesus, the disciples saying they do not have enough food, and Jesus performing the miracle of multiplying the food. The summary encourages being generous like Jesus by giving people something to eat when they are hungry, and that God can provide abundantly for all needs through small acts of faithfulness.
Ha69-10252015 Why I love the church of Christ Part 9James Bradshaw
Sunday Morning slides October 25, 2015 at the Heritage addition church of Christ located in Booneville, Arkansas. I love the church of Christ because of her worship
The elder asks John who the people clothed in white robes are. John doesn't know, so the elder explains they are those who have come out of the great tribulation and have washed their robes white in the blood of the Lamb. They stand before God's throne serving him day and night in his temple. They will never be hungry, thirsty, or harmed by the sun again, as the Lamb will shepherd and guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Sunday morning October 18, 2015 sermon at the Heritage Addition church of Christ located in Booneville, AR. Why I love the church of Christ because she is Holy
This document provides an overview and analysis of Revelation 6:1-11. It discusses the opening of the first four seals by the Lamb and the revealing of the four horsemen - the white, red, black, and pale horses. It notes that these represent conquest, war, famine, and death. The fifth seal shows souls under the altar who were martyred for their testimony, crying out for judgment. God tells them to wait until the full number are martyred. In conclusion, it encourages enduring troubles with faith until the final judgment.
Ha65 10112015 why i love the church of christ part7James Bradshaw
This document is a summary of a sermon about why the author loves the church of Christ. It discusses several key points:
1) Salvation comes through God's grace, not by works, and grace is only found in Christ and his church.
2) Jesus Christ is the head of the church and the church seeks to save the lost, as Jesus commanded.
3) The church provides opportunities for members to do good works and treat others with compassion, as taught in scripture.
4) Members commemorate Jesus' sacrifice through regularly taking communion or "the Lord's supper" together.
1) John wept when he found that no one was worthy to open the scroll sealed with seven seals. 2) One of the elders told John not to weep and said that Jesus, as both the Lion of Judah and the slain Lamb, had prevailed and was worthy to open the scroll. 3) When John looked, he saw a slain lamb standing in the midst of the throne, and it took the scroll from God. 4) The living creatures, elders, and every creature in heaven, earth, and under the earth sang praises to the worthy Lamb who had redeemed them by his blood.
Ha62 09272015 why i love the church of christ part5James Bradshaw
This document summarizes a sermon about why the author loves the Church of Christ. The main points are:
1) Jesus Christ is the head of the Church of Christ. As its head, the mission of the Church is the same as Jesus' mission - to seek and save the lost.
2) Jesus Christ built the Church of Christ and he has all authority. He gave the apostles the power to bind and loose on earth.
3) Jesus Christ paid for and cleansed the Church of Christ with his own blood. Believers are cleansed of their sins through baptism.
1) John wept when he saw that no one was found worthy to open the scroll sealed with seven seals. 2) One of the elders told John not to weep and said that Jesus, as both the Lion of Judah and the slain Lamb, had prevailed to open the scroll. 3) When John looked, he saw the Lamb standing in the midst of the throne, appearing as if it had been slain.
1. John has a vision of God sitting on His heavenly throne.
2. Around God's throne is a rainbow, 24 elders sitting on thrones, and 4 living creatures.
3. The living creatures continuously praise God as the Almighty who created all things.
1) Paul traveled from Athens to Corinth where he encountered Aquila and Priscilla who had recently been ordered to leave Rome.
2) Paul began preaching in the synagogue and trying to persuade people to obey the gospel. When Silas and Timothy arrived, Paul devoted himself completely to preaching.
3) When the Jews opposed Paul's message, he shook his garments and said he would now go to the Gentiles. The Lord then spoke to Paul in a vision not to be afraid and continue preaching.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

4. 1Co 13:8-13 NKJV Love never fails. But whether there are
prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they
will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
(9) For we know in part and we prophesy in part. (10) But
when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in
part will be done away. (11) When I was a child, I spoke as
a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when
I became a man, I put away childish things. (12) For now
we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know
in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. (13)
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest
of these is love.
Nothing Miraculous
