Over 1000 volunteers from City Year and local schools participated in Global Youth Service Day in Manchester, New Hampshire on April 25, 2014, completing 29 projects to improve six school grounds. Projects included painting murals, maps, and games on blacktops; planting flowers; and building furniture. Teachers and students reported being very satisfied with the organized event and well-run projects, and 96% of students reported feeling happy or very happy about the service, their school's improvements, and doing more service.

The monthly media center report from Wrens Elementary School provides statistics for August 2015. Mrs. Jan O'Steen was the top faculty patron, checking out 1,980 books total. The top 3 student patrons were JaQuavious Kellom, Malana Jane Moore, and Ryan Hall. Mrs. Kimberly Hubbard's 2nd grade class had the top classroom checkouts for K-2 with 72 books while Mrs. Brenda Farmer's 5th grade had the top for 3-5 with 317 books. The annual bulletin board report from the Department of English at Maharaja Krishna Kumar sihnji Bhavnagar University covers the 2015-16 academic year. The bulletin board committee was led by Asmita Gond and included 9 other members. Bulletin boards are used to showcase student creativity, provide information to students and faculty, and demonstrate student skills and achievements over the course of the year. The bulletin boards featured a variety of student work including poems, paintings, paper collages, news articles, and other creative pieces. Progress was tracked with photo collages and invitations. Teachers and visitors observed the bulletin boards.

Teddy bears were exchanged to experience both countries’ cultures – Pakistani students hosted Austin while American students hosted Parveen. Through Austin and Parveen’s positive experiences, children were able to promote understanding, respect and awareness among the participating schoolchildren and their families in both countries.

Each morning, corps members take their assigned school buses to one of five school sites to set up their classrooms before students arrive at 7:45 a.m. Students receive tailored instruction based on individual learning goals to make ambitious growth in math and reading. After school until 8 p.m., corps members attend training sessions at OCU while also creating lesson plans, evaluating students, and being mentored by veteran teachers to develop their instructional skills.

Every year for 10 years, non-profits from Central Pennsylvania have brought their needs for professional-quality design materials to Pennsylvania College of Art &Design’s American Institute of Graphic Arts Student Chapter (AIGA) for the annual Designathon. Every year, PCA&D students, aided by faculty members and PCA&D alumni (and lots of coffee), create brochures, logos, t-shirts, posters, websites and more during a 24 hour period.
During the 10th annual event on Feb 23 aND 24, 28 Graphic Design students aided by 8 faculty members and 8 alumni, one of whom participated in the original Designathon, sequesterED themselves at PCA&D starting at 6 p.m. on February 23 to deliver professional-quality design services at no charge to the non-profits. Students at PCA&D who participate in the Designathon gain real-world experience in creating projects for clients under a tight, 24-hour deadline. They learn that non-profits have very real marketing needs in order to be successful, and strong graphic design on well-organized collateral pieces are vital components in successful communications and marketing plans. More importantly, students experience the value of giving back to the community.

Violence among students at Sri Renganatha municipal middle school was bothering teachers and parents. Teachers discussed the issue and suggested conducting team games and daily meditation/yoga to develop team spirit among students. Students were also advised to prepare apology and thank you cards, read daily, and participate in an orientation class and trip to gain perspective on avoiding violence.

We celebrated International Women’s Day on Monday 9th March this year. The ceremony was prepared by boys and the Student Council. All women working at our school and all girls from Primary and Middle Schools participated in this nice ceremony and they got flowers, sweets and small presents.

Monoslope buildings (Figure 1) are one type of roofed and confined cattle feeding facility that is becoming increasingly popular in the Northern Great Plains. However, little is known about the impact of these housing systems and associated manure management methods on the air quality inside and outside the barn. The objective of this study was to determine gas concentrations in monoslope beef cattle facilities and relate these concentrations to environmental and manure management factors.

HP Post Service Day Report FY15_FINAL
The 7th Annual Harvard Pilgrim Service Day took place on May 14, 2015 in Manchester, New Hampshire. Over 100 volunteers from various organizations worked at the Beech Street Elementary School and the New Hampshire Food Bank's production garden, performing tasks like turning soil, building structures, and teaching students about healthy eating. The event helped prepare the garden for summer planting to provide fresh produce to over 430 programs statewide. Volunteers and students reported learning about nutrition, physical activity, and the importance of community service. Local media covered the event.

This team of 5 UMass Dartmouth business students worked with the Williams H. Taylor Elementary School in New Bedford to educate them on single-stream recycling. They held two events at the school where they challenged the classes to collect recycled materials and informed them about what can be recycled. They determined a winning class who was featured in the local newspaper. They also created brochures to inform the wider community. Their efforts educated over 30,000 people on single-stream recycling and increased recycling rates at the school.
