Gavin has over 38 years of experience in engineering, projects, and construction management. He has successfully led multi-million dollar expansion and new construction projects for companies in South Africa and abroad, delivering them on time and on budget. Currently, Gavin works as the Construction Manager for SABMiller in Nigeria, overseeing upgrades and new projects at their breweries with contract values ranging from $1.27 million to $120 million.

1. CAPABILITY PROFILE - GAVIN J YATES
Gavin joined the Engineering, Projects & Construction Industry some Thirty Eight years ago.
At the start of his career he was exposed to the initial Conceptual Design, Detailed Design, Planning,
Construction and Hand-Over of Projects to a wide variety of clientele. His main interest remains within
Construction, Project Planning, Design Co-Ordination i.e. EPCM and support to the Projects Manager,
Commercial Services and Project Engineers.
During his career he has had input into a broad spectrum of Project Engineering and Project Control. He has
been party to the successful completion of Multi-Million Rand Expansion and Green Field Projects, to within
Budgets and Project Programmes.
Gavin joined SABMiller in January 1988 on R150 Rosslyn Project and has been involved in all aspects of
Projects with SABMiller at the various facilities both within SA and abroad. His latest major milestones
achieved have been the successful installation of Line 8 at Alrode, the re-design and relocation of the UB
facility from Garanku to Thika-Kenya as well as Project “Orange” for the local production of Heineken. He
was involved in the completion of the “Brutal Fruit Expansion” and of the Projects at SAB – Chamdor for
their F2007 initiatives.
The latest additions to his Project history has been the successful completion of the “Barren Solution
Recovery Project” at Highveld Steel & Vanadium – Witbank, Nampak NEW paper mill – Roslyn, Pretoria,
MultoTec Dryer – Pretoria, Eskom (Medupi Power Station in Elasrus) in works fabrication of Pressure
Vessels. ALL of these projects were brought to completion both with-in budget and time contraints. He is
extensively involved with the day to day Planning, Project and Construction Management for three (3)
workshops, working in conjunction with the Works and Managing Director. He is currently contracted to
Falcon Engineering (SA) (Pty) Limited as a Senior Planner, Construction and Project Manager. He has been
successfully fulfilling this role for the past six odd years. i.e. (6¾) years. i.e. March 2005 to November
2011. Estimated costs of these various Projects range from ±4.5 to ±48 Million (ZAR).
He then re-joined SABMiller – Africa & Asia, where he was employed as the Construction Manager on the
Zambian Breweries plc – Ndola Phase 1000 Project. He was be based at Ndola Brewery until successful
completion of the Project estimated cost on completion of this project will be ±90 Million (USD).
Gavin was then asked to re-join Falcon Engineering (Pty) Limited on his return to SA on the 30th
April 2013
where he held the position of Operations Manager and was fulfilling the same roles and responsibilities that
he did when he was at Falcon Engineering SA (Pty) Limited. Contracts currently under his control at present
range from ±6.3 to ±18.75 Million (ZAR).
Gavin has re-joined SABMiller – Africa & Asia, at their brewing facility in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria,
where he currently holds the position of Construction Manager for the entire upgrade phases of the
brewery. Contracts currently under his control at present range from ±22.7 to ±120 Million (USD). This
Project is now nearing its completion and Gavin is moving on to the next Project, still with SABMiller at
their brewing facility in Ilesha, Omi-Asoro, Osun State, Nigeria. He will be fulfilling the role of Projects /
Construction Site Manager and will be responsible for ALL aspects of Projects that will be completed at
this facility. Contracts currently under his control at present range from ±1.27 to ±3.57 Million (USD).
