2. Extended Play Album
According to Shaun
Letang, an EP has a length
of 4 to 6 songs (Letang
2020). In this case, this
record by “Last In Line”
qualifies as an EP since it
has 4 songs.
3. Long Play Album
According to the platform
Splice, a long play album
has approximately a
length of 10 to 12 songs
(Splice, 2023).
“Live In Munich 1977”, by
Rainbow has a total of 9
songs, which makes it too
long to be an EP, therefore
it goes towards the long
play album territory.
4. How often do marketing reps visit from the record
labels?
The clerk, named Derek, told me that it is not a common
thing to see marketing reps at record stores. He explained
that they gravitate more towards going to live shows and
spending a good amount of time on social media analyzing
the digital ecosystem of the music industry.
6. SWAG AND Exclusives
I wasn’t able to find SWAG items. Derek showed me various
examples of records released for the Record Store Day such
as “A Hot Summer Night” by Donna Summer, “The
Legendary Demos” by Carole King, and “Live In Fresno 1983”
by Dio.
8. Reflection
A record store like Park Ave Cds has a great aesthetic vibe
that can work greatly for social media content. This concept
could be approached as a live performance, which then can
be transformed into social media videos. Being surrounded
by so much physical music brings at atmosphere that can
add a great level of historical value into a performance.
Organizing a live event for a release at Park Ave Cds would
be great, as well as recording it properly in order to upload
it into platforms like Instagram, Youtube, Facebook and Tik
Tok. It can also be a great location for music videos, and
reels.
