Robert Halsey argues that current bans on firearms on college campuses infringe on Second Amendment rights and only prevent law-abiding citizens from defending themselves. He presents data showing that the 200+ campuses across 6 states that allow concealed carry have not experienced any shootings. Halsey concludes that all campuses should allow those with concealed carry permits to protect their constitutional right to bear arms for self defense while studying.

2. The 2nd Amendment:
 …the right of the people to keep and bear arms
shall not be infringed.

3.  Firearms should be allowed on college
campuses because current gun bans only stop
people with good intentions and they
disregard the second amendment.

4. Problem
A majority of states do not allow people with
concealed weapon permits to carry firearms on
campus.
Solution
Every campus needs to afford those with a
concealed weapon permit the ability to defend
themselves while on campus.

5.  I have no intention of ever bringing a gun to
school.
 This is about people be denied their rights.

6.  If any other freedom were to be restricted there
would be no tolerance for it.
 This is no different. It concerns a freedom in
the bill of rights that is being hampered and it
can’t be allowed.

7.  Banning guns from campuses disarms the
lawful citizens.

 More than 200 campuses in 6 states are
allowing students with permits to carry

 There have been no shootings at any of these
campuses.

8.  Through legislation, decriminalize carrying a
concealed weapon on a college campus for all
those with a permit.
 In every state.
 This would be done easiest through the
Supreme Court.

9.  Knowing that college campuses aren’t less safe
when concealed weapon permit holders are
allowed to carry.
 Peace of mind that comes with knowing
constitutional rights are not being denied.

10.  If it ever comes to a national vote, vote in favor
of allowing concealed weapon permit holders
to carry on campuses.
