Gunheads
1. Gunheads
By Steve Parker
Synopsis
The book is based around Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 model collection and the stories that surround it:
The imperial guard 88th armoured tank company, the Gunheads, land on the desert world of Gologltha under the command of Sergeant Wulfe as part of a mission to locate and retrieve the legendary battle tank of Commissar Yarrick, Fortress of Arrogance, from the brutal Ork warbands that infest the planet. After a hard landing they are split up from the rest of the expedition force and have to fight their way through the harsh Gologlthan desert and Ork hordes alike to rejoin with their expedition.
Once sent to the last known location of Fortress of Arrogance everything seems to be going smoothly until Ork obstacles, a crazed general and threats form Wulfe’s tortured past threaten to plunge the mission into chaos unless he can hold his team together in the face of the greatest dangers fate has to offer.
My View
I think this is an excellent book, Steve Parker is very good at constantly keeping the book fresh and interesting, drawing the reader in to read more. The book has a great storyline that includes many exciting battles, intriguing mysteries and tense moments that make this book a great read.
A great thing about this book is that one need not be familiar with Warhammer 40,000 to understand the book, some assumptions may have to be made over names at the start but otherwise it’s all relatable. This is due to the fact that it is not as strongly sci-fi themed as Warhammer 40,000.

Recommendations
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone likes action and adventure books, especially to people who like Warhammer 40,000 or even just like other associated books based on the series. Having read this book it has lead me on to read many other exciting books in the series of Imperial Guard novels.
