1. Release Date –12 November 2010 when the Erdut agreement was signed, in the
Croatian War of Independence.
Trailers – With the trailers one will be released every 2 month with the first trailer only
being 1:00 long with army shots, gunshots heard and heavy breathing. It cuts to the title
shot of ‘Grand Theft Auto; The Escape’. The trailers are released between the 9 April
2010 – 8 October 2010 These dates are the start of the Croatian War and the last major
act of violence before the signing of the Erdut agreement. There will be three trailers in
total. The last advert will be the third which will have all the adverts merged together to
create a full trailer.

Print Media – Army wanted posters, in Slovian to keep up with the army themes.
TV Media – The first and last internet teaser trailers advert will be shown on the internet
with milder content so less violence is shown before the water shed.
Online Media – Fans of the GTA IV’s official site sign up get sent emails informing them
to access the site, as there have been changes have been made to the site. Once the
users have typed their date of birth to access it, the site which is seemed to be hacked
to see a video diary of Niko plotting to leave the Slovian Army, just as he’s about to tell
his plan, a door behind him slams open and Slovian Army commands are shouting as his
camera hits the floor and is cut off. White noise and a crackling tv screen shown as the
title ‘Grand Theft Auto; The Escape’ is zoomed to the front of the screen with; ‘Will you
survive to see the ordeal? 27th June 2011’
Advertising – Poster/Billboards etc. – Posters are shown with screenshots of Niko’s face
from his camera, blurred and slightly distorted with the wording ‘Will you help him?’
Army wanted posters, in Slovian with Niko’s name in English so fans notice that its from
Grand Theft Auto episode.
Guerilla Marketing – Graffiti of Slovian army officers, stickers and graffiti with Slovian
army slogans shown.
Viral Marketing – Emails sent to fans of the GTA IV site to alert them of the change in
the site.
Synergy and Convergence – On the day of the first trailer release (9 April 2010) PS3 and
OXM will release the first review and scope of the trailer. From the fan sites, die hard
fans of GTA will be able to guy modifications if they achieve certain stats to help Niko
escape. Such as if they have killed so many people or completed multiple missions the
fans will be able to access their fan sites enter a code onto the site to ‘buy’
modifications such as helicopters to help Niko escape.
