This document describes versions 1 and 2 of the GT Magic Mirror product. Version 2 features include weather and weather forecast, a clock, calendar, what's for dinner planning, countdown timers, and a mobile app. It uses a Raspberry Pi with Nginx webserver, Nodejs backend, MongoDB database, and frontend technologies like jQuery, Materializecss, Weathericons, and Knockoutjs. The mirror retrieves data from openweathermap, iCloud, and Wunderlist to display information. A mobile app allows remote control of mirror features from other devices.

I gave a talk to the largest XR AR Group in Los Angeles XRLA Sept. 20, 2018 at WeWork Downtown LA Fine Arts Office to 100 registered attendees going over Magic Leap, the development environment, how to create 3D Apps, the 3D Internet Browser, then answered about 50 questions from AR XR MR VR Developers and Creators and showed them some AR MR filming with Magic Leap I did over the last month as well as go over key features and benefits of Magic Leap One and the ecosystem. I also gave out about 100 pounds of gifts and fun collectibles Magic Leap gave me to give out free. Thanks all!
Controlling Electrical Appliances Using IOT and AR
This document proposes a home automation system that allows users to control electrical appliances using the Internet of Things (IoT) and augmented reality (AR). The system would use a wireless network or cloud-based approach to control devices remotely from a PC, internet, or other device. An IoT-based system is developed using a node microcontroller connected to appliances via relays. Control is enabled through the Blynk app and AR interfaces created with Unity 3D. The AR interfaces integrate visual buttons using the Vuforia engine that can control appliances in real-time by detecting target images. This combines the benefits of IoT, cloud, and AR technologies for remote smart home control and monitoring.

I gave this talk at the FOSS4G 2019 Bucharest. I talked about the recent achievements and improvements of mago3D project, an open source based Digital Twin platform. mago3D(http mago3d.com) is relatively new project first released in July 2017. The ultimate goal of mago3D is developing an open source based digital twin platform that can replicate and simulate the real world objects, processes, and phenomena on web environment. mago3D is on its way to achieve this goal now. mago3D has been used in various industry sectors including ship building, urban management, indoor data management, and national defense. In this talk I showcased several real projects that employed the mago3D and shared what I learnt from these projects.

From Natural Language to Structured Solr Queries using LLMs
This talk draws on experimentation to enable AI applications with Solr. One important use case is to use AI for better accessibility and discoverability of the data: while User eXperience techniques, lexical search improvements, and data harmonization can take organizations to a good level of accessibility, a structural (or “cognitive” gap) remains between the data user needs and the data producer constraints.
That is where AI – and most importantly, Natural Language Processing and Large Language Model techniques – could make a difference. This natural language, conversational engine could facilitate access and usage of the data leveraging the semantics of any data source.
The objective of the presentation is to propose a technical approach and a way forward to achieve this goal.
The key concept is to enable users to express their search queries in natural language, which the LLM then enriches, interprets, and translates into structured queries based on the Solr index’s metadata.
This approach leverages the LLM’s ability to understand the nuances of natural language and the structure of documents within Apache Solr.
The LLM acts as an intermediary agent, offering a transparent experience to users automatically and potentially uncovering relevant documents that conventional search methods might overlook. The presentation will include the results of this experimental work, lessons learned, best practices, and the scope of future work that should improve the approach and make it production-ready.
