Like the record stores of the past, in-store grocery shopping is going to cease to exist.
Food procurement and home delivery has been tried and failed before. Even today’s grocery
delivery services provide only small increases in convenience. However, the proliferation of
consumer devices and the rise of technical advances across many areas are poised to
dramatically change how consumers purchase and obtain groceries and retail goods.
Key drivers include:
• Consumer acceptance of mobile technologies
• Cloud based technologies
• Advances in autonomous automobiles
• Rapid growth of the Internet of Things or IOT
• Advances in data warehouse automation

Grocery shopping will soon be an afterthought.
Home delivery of groceries will be ordered and
delivered in such an unobtrusive manner that soon it
will only be a faint notion in consumers minds as to
how food gets to their kitchen cabinets.

3. Consumer Experience: Setting-up the Kitchen Cabinet App*
• A preferred configuration will be initially be provided
to each new customer for ease of set-up aligned to
the logistical set-up in the local food warehouse –
making it easier to map out the fulfillment logistics
• Consumers will use their mobile device to set-up and
select the physical areas to place the food in their
cabinets – which will be transmitted back to the
grocery cloud for future use and used to set the
warehouse order configuration for that household’s
home delivery
• The UI will be similar to those now being used for
online apps. Consumers will choose food categories
to order automatically (via IOT) and other food good
selections (set by the consumer) will prompt
consumers for new selections or updates prior to
ordering - just like how apps are updated today on a
mobile phone
Home food ordering will be easily set-up on mobile phones/tablets/pc’s.

5. Warehouse Design
The warehouse layout will be configured and optimized by local consumer consumption
patterns and aligned with standardized consumer home kitchen cabinet layouts.
Upstream food manufacturers shipping logistics will be pegged
to the local warehouse configuration to increase efficiencies in
transportation and warehouse unloading

6. Automated Home Delivery
Process Overview
• The warehouse order fulfillment
vehicle will receive an online
customer order (similar to those
found in Amazon today)
• Warehouse order fulfillment will
be processed/executed
• Computerized autonomous
delivery vehicles will drive goods
to the Neighborhood Receptor
and unload onto a Home Food
Transport
• Other home deliveries will be
delivered this way as well, (e.g.,
clothes, small purchases etc.)
Automated home delivery logistics will be designed for delivery of food and home
staples to consumer homes and be as unobtrusive as possible.

7. Automated Home Delivery
• The Neighborhood Receptor will
lower the home food transport into
the ground
• The transport will move via an
underground passage way
• Orders will get delivered to each
home via a marked entrance way
located within the passage way
• A home food crate will be moved into each home and placed in the kitchen cabinets via a
pre-configuration selected by the homeowner
• Additionally, specialized prepared food bins will be permit a consumer to set the heating
time for prepared dinners which will be ready for serving when he/she gets home
A consumer will just open the kitchen cabinet and grab a snack.
Exactly what is done today.
Home delivery will be environmentally friendly, using a receptor and underground
passage way for delivery to homes.

8. Infrastructure – Home Design
New home construction will offer a great new convenience – a Food Replenishment
System* offering a tremendous consumer convenience while adding value to the
neighborhood.
*New home construction will include the a small underground track that will be key in delivering groceries
to each household
