Chloe Waretini is a civic entrepreneur and designer from Auckland, New Zealand who is passionate about inspiring people to restore urban environments and make cities places where ecology and people thrive. She has worked as a freelance designer for 8 years on various projects related to her passions, including environmental action campaigns, ecological development strategies, and upcycled furniture. Chloe believes that while passion and ability are important, significant resources are also needed to be successful, so she focuses on attracting generosity, donations, and in-kind contributions through compelling branding and communications to fuel her work organizing festivals and social enterprises.

Money is one resource. That’s why it
makes sense to be in business.
But there are others which are just as
significant...

The biggest economic engine
behind my work is generosity.
Over 80% of the resource needed to
put on the festival in 2012 came from
an exchange of favours, professional
time and in-kind donations. Therefore
our most important activity is making
it feel awesome to contribute.

12. PASSION ABILITY+ resource+
Events create energy, focus attention and give impetus
for engagement. Having an inspiring brand and
compelling communications increase capacity to attract
money and other resources.
