An industry consultant is helping newspapers improve the efficiency of their production by reformulating their air systems. As color printing has become more common, the air systems in many older printing plants can no longer support the additional demands. The consultant has evaluated air systems at nine newspapers over the past six months and provided recommendations to improve air pressure and volume to reduce stress on equipment and downtime. These recommendations have resulted in production benefits for newspapers like increased efficiency and reduced maintenance needs.
