The Metropolitan Opera was founded in 1880 and performs operas from September to May each year at its Lincoln Center location in New York City. It presents around 28 operas annually including several new productions along with classics from the Baroque era to modern works. With a seating capacity of 3,800, the Metropolitan Opera attracts around 800,000 attendees each season and broadcasts many performances live internationally.
