 Interact and make connections with young female leaders
from Japan and South Korea
 Learn about international entrepreneurship, technology,
and environmental protection
 Grow in civic engagement
 Participate in a U.S. Department of State sponsored program
 Experience new cultures first-hand and gain valuable real-
life experience in cross-cultural communication
Key Program Components:
Participants will focus on the program themes of: civic
education, leadership and community service through the lens
of: entrepreneurial approaches to business, education,
healthcare, environmental protection and technology. The
group will participate in site meetings, experiential learning
activities, leadership trainings, civic participation at the
community level, mentoring by community, business and NGO
leaders, and volunteer programs.
Program Dates: August 10-15, 2015

intercultural, youth leadership program—right here in Chicago—August 2015!

about 1 percent of the world’s wealth. Through the African Women’s
Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP), the U.S. Department of State identifies
and builds networks of women entrepreneurs across sub-Saharan Africa
poised to transform their societies by owning, running, and operating
businesses, and by becoming voices for social advocacy in their communities.

Reimagining & Revitalizing the Chinese
Collections at The Field Museum
with DR. DEBORAH BEKKEN, Director of Government Affairs & Sponsored
Programs and Adjunct Curator for the Cyrus Tang Hall of China
Dr. Deborah Bekken will present a fascinating insider’s perspective on the
excitement and challenges of bringing the Cyrus Tang Hall of China Exhibition
to The Field Museum of Natural History. Dr. Bekken will provide unique insight
into the multi-year assembling process of the Cyrus Tang Hall of China, opening
June 2015.
The Cyrus Tang Hall of China will give museum-goers a comprehensive look at
the long history and fascinating culture of China. The exhibition will feature 350 archaeological,
historical, and ethnographic objects along with multimedia stories about who made and used them. The
exhibition will showcase jades, bronzes, ceramics, textiles, burial objects, and even a puppet theater.
The Spring Diplomacy Luncheon, WorldChicago’s biggest fundraiser of the year, brings together
business, political, university, nonprofit, and student leaders focused on promoting citizen diplomacy in
Chicago. This annual luncheon gives attendees exclusive access to speakers and an insider’s view to the
impactful, international work they are doing in Chicago.

The Spring Diplomacy Luncheon will feature keynote speaker Deborah Bekken, Co-Curator for Cyrus Tang Hall of China, opening
in June 2015. Dr. Bekken will present about her role and the process of bringing these Chinese artifacts to Chicago. Dr. Bekken
will provide an inside look at the conversations with scholars from the U.S. and China, as well as the multi-year exhibition

On stage, you will see stop.reset, a play about modern technology's impact on the Baby Boomer generation, written and directed
by acclaimed Goodman Theatre Artistic Associate Regina Taylor. A public talk with Regina Taylor is scheduled following the
