PRESS RELEASE
BOOMERANG EFFECT FELT IN DOWNTOWN FRESNO
DURING GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION AT YOGURT ECT.
Ribbon cutting event attended by Mayor Swearengin, Fresno City Councilmembers
Blong Xiong, Clint Olivier, and Paul Caprioglio who celebrated the return of a Central
Valley native as the doors of Yogurt Etc. were officially opened.
(Fresno CA) It was a festive spirit in Downtown Fresno today as Fresno Mayor
Ashley Swearingen and Fresno City Councilmembers Clint Olivier, Blong Xiong
and Paul Caprioglio helped celebrate the opening of Yogurt Etc. The large crowd
of attendees got to sample a variety of menu items including their healthier
version of Frozen Yogurt. The event featured Craig Scharton, the Business
Development Director for the City of Fresno as the Master of Ceremonies.
This grand opening marks another successful business startup for the Downtown
Business Hub under the leadership of Dora Westerlund, C.E.O. The new
business offers not only dozens of flavor choices and locally grown fresh fruit and
nut toppings but also the addition of healthy choices such as gluten free, sugar
free and fat free yogurt along with vegan chili and All Beef Hebrew National hot dogs.
Owners David Goldberg, 24 and Hector Parra, 44, are being recognized as part of Fresno’s emerging
“boomerang effect” as they join the ranks of other young professionals who have left home to pursue an
education but later return to put their education and training to good use here in the Central Valley. They are
not only strong believers in the future of Downtown Fresno but also see the diverse opportunities and
resources available in the Central Valley.
According to Goldberg, “After extensive market research for business opportunities in the downtown area over
the last three years, it became very clear that this business would be a perfect fit. We now have an ideal
location where not just downtown workers can enjoy a fresh healthy snack or quick meal, but also the
thousands of visitors who attend events at the facilities that surround us.”
He added, “We also wanted to provide healthier options to our customer’s meal choices. Not only is our yogurt
good for you and low in calories but we are also offering other healthier alternatives.”
2. Yogurt Etc. is also proud to be using locally provided farm fresh ingredients for its fruit toppings and local
organic eggs for its breakfast options.
Mayor Swearengin commented on the importance of this grand opening event, “Every new business that
opens in Downtown Fresno is an important part of bringing the heart of our City back. The fact that this
opening is the result of research that showed the economic opportunities available for business owners in
Downtown Fresno makes it all the more significant. I am especially proud of David and Hector for their efforts
as young entrepreneurs to invest in Downtown Fresno."
Yogurt Etc. will be holding a private event later this afternoon for Friends and Family and plans to formally
open to the public on May 31, 2013.
Yogurt Etc. will be open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until
4:00 p.m., Closed Sundays unless there is an event happening in the immediate area. For information about
