Unit 7 focuses on teaching students about the social and environmental impacts of clean energy sources by having them develop an understanding of electricity concepts and applications. Students will learn about different methods of power production and how they affect individuals, the environment, and society. This will allow students to make informed judgments about the advantages and disadvantages of alternative and renewable energy sources. Unit 8 has students investigate, design, plan, and build an electrical generator powered by a renewable energy solution from Unit 7 that is creative and can charge a mobile phone battery.

production methods affect individuals, the
environment and our society. Students will
gain sufficient knowledge to make considered
judgments when discussing the advantages
and disadvantages of alternative and
renewable energy sources.

• Generating green energy - making
energy work. Students will
investigate, design, plan and make
an electrical generator that is able
to be powered by their solution for

product of current and voltage – to
energize a mobile phone battery
with a low-voltage charger.
