Credit Designations:  Grades 9 “ O ” for Open Courses “ L ” for Essential Skills Courses “ P ” for Applied Skills Courses “ D ” for Academic Skills Courses
MPM1D (Academic) Designed for students: With grade 8 marks above 75% Who are capable of applying skills to familiar and unfamiliar situations Who are able to complete tasks with limited assistance and have excellent organizational skills MFM1P (Applied) Designed for students: With Grade 8 mathematical marks between 50 and 75% Who would benefit from repetition when encountering new concepts and a practical approach Who are able to complete tasks with some assistance and have established organizational skills MAT 1L (Essentials) Designed for students: With mathematical skills below Grade 8 Who would benefit from small group instructions and material being delivered at a slower pace Who have difficulty completing tasks independently and organizing material MATHEMATICS
SNC 1D (Academic) Designed for students: With Grade 8 marks above 75%  Who are capable of applying skills to familiar and unfamiliar situations Who are able to complete tasks with limited assistance and have excellent organizational skills SNC 1P (Applied) Designed for students: With Grade 8 science marks between 50 and 75% Who would benefit from repetition when encountering new concepts and a practical approach Who are able to complete tasks with some assistance and have established organizational skills SNC 1L (Essentials) Designed for students: With weak scientific skills or minimal interest in science Who would benefit from small group instruction and material being delivered at a slower pace Who have difficulty completing tasks independently and organizing material SCIENCE
ENG 1D (Academic) Designed for students: Respond well to rigorous and demanding program Demonstrate insightful responses Are capable of reading and writing independently Are capable of independent inquiry Respond to different written forms, poetry, drama and prose ENG 1P (Applied) Designed for students: Prefer practical hands-on assignments to those requiring abstract thought Need encouragement to read independently silently Like to identify with the reading material Tend to do the minimal and superficial response to written text or verbal instruction ENG 1L (Essentials) Designed for students: Who are involved in the IPRC process Respond well to simple, short literal assignments, with very clear steps Who have limited recall Find independent silent reading a challenge Need lots of organizational help  ENGLISH
