PRINCIPLES AND PROCEDURES IN IRONING AND

and then lifted.
PRINCIPLES AND PROCEDURES IN IRONING
AND PRESSING CLOTHES AND LINENS
• It is best to iron linen while it is still damp. When ironing is done, hang
the garment to dry completely. Do not wear linen while it is still damp as
it will cause more creases.
• It is best to use steam iron if available. Sprinkle additional water if
necessary to get a smooth finish.
• For areas like collars and cuffs, use spray-on starch or fabric sizing.
For embroidered items, use a lightweight cloth over the stitching and
iron the two together to avoid damage in the stitching.
• Always press the clothing on the wrong side especially clothing with
darker colors to prevent shiny spots.

• 1.) Turn the shirt inside out.
• 2) Flaten the colar on the ironing board.
