This document provides an overview and analysis of Jesus sending his disciples out like sheep among wolves based on passages from Matthew 10:16-25. It discusses how the disciples, though helpless like sheep, must be shrewd like snakes and innocent as doves to survive among hostile people ("wolves"). Their mission will invoke a clash between the powers of God and Satan, with the disciples representing God's voice, enduring hatred and persecution until Jesus' second coming ends Satan's rule and establishes God's kingdom. The document examines interpretations of key phrases and how believers can apply this teaching today.
This passage from 1 Corinthians discusses the resurrection of Jesus and believers. It states that Jesus was the first to be resurrected, and that through him all people will be resurrected - both the righteous and the wicked. It asserts that death will be the final enemy destroyed. The passage also references baptism for the dead, though its meaning is unclear. It emphasizes that if there is no resurrection, then Christ has not been raised and Christianity is false.
Make Me A Servant
Make me a servant Lord, make me like you
For you are a servant, make me one, too.
Make me a servant, do what you must do
To make me a servant, make me like you.
To love my brother, to serve like you do.
I humble my spirit, I bow before yo.
And through my service, I'll be just like you.
So make me a servant, make me like you.
Open my hands Lord and teach me to share
Open my heart Lord and teach me to care,
For service to others is service to you.
Make me a servant, make me like you.
This document provides biblical principles for keeping one's life on track according to God's will. It discusses three key principles: 1) Love God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and love your neighbor as yourself. 2) Bring honor and glory to God in everything. 3) Follow the guidance of Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in the Lord, not lean on your own understanding, and acknowledge Him in all your ways. The document explores what it means to fully commit one's heart to God in every area of life and obedience. It cautions against relying on one's own wisdom instead of God's.
The document discusses the importance of spiritual growth and maturity. It outlines different stages of spiritual development using the analogy of an infant, child, teenager, and mature adult. Each stage is characterized by certain behaviors and mindsets. The goal is to progress from basic understanding to discernment, submission to authority, and mentoring others through mature character and intimacy with God.

Jesus heals two women. One enjoyed the center of community life, the other lived on the margins. See how each had to take a different path to find Jesus' healing touch.
The document discusses Jesus' commandment to his disciples to make disciples of all nations. It explains that this means transforming people into followers who learn from Jesus, not just converting them as believers. The key is to win people over through healing, bring them into community, and equip them to obey all that Jesus commanded through teaching. Disciples are made by discipling, baptizing, and teaching people to follow Jesus' example in their lives with his continual presence and support.
Tomorrow we are starting a new series of study:
“The New Man” is a seminar that will focus on the spirit of man, its soul and its body.
We will learn the properties of each one of these three parts of man.
Our spirit is called to be the ruling part of us, actually, our spirit is the main part of our being, and is the place where the spirit of God dwells in.
We meet in Room #3 at CTF Toronto Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. I invite you to come and participate with us in this discovery of how to let our spirit become the ruler of our life.
Paul devoted all of Romans 11 to presenting proof that God is not through with Israel. We must not apply this chapter to the church today, because Paul is discussing a literal future for a literal nation. He called five witnesses to prove there was a future in God’s plan for the Jews.
Jesus heals a man who was born blind. When Jesus' disciples ask if the man's blindness was due to his own or his parents' sins, Jesus says it was so God's power could be shown. Jesus heals the man by making mud with spit and rubbing it on his eyes, telling him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. When questioned about the healing, the man testifies boldly about Jesus and glorifies him. The Pharisees expel the man from the synagogue for his belief. Jesus finds the man and tells him he is the Son of Man, and the man believes.

My soul is more important than my stuff.
This message was given on November 22, 2015 at New City Church in Calgary by Pastor John Ferguson. For more info, please visit: www.newcitychurch.ca
The document discusses self-control, which is identified as a fruit of the Spirit. It provides several biblical references to self-control and defines it as mastery over one's desires and passions. The document outlines how self-control relates to sacrificial service, spiritual warfare over the mind and body, and enabling godly living through God's grace. Exercising self-control is important for withstanding worldly and fleshly temptations and remaining focused on doing God's will.
The document discusses how God created everything for his glory and that the ultimate goal of the universe is to show God's glory. It provides definitions of God's glory and discusses how God's glory is revealed in creation, Jesus, and the Bible. It argues that we should live to bring God glory by worshipping him, becoming like Christ, serving others, telling others about God, and fulfilling God's purposes for our lives. The key point is that everything exists to glorify God and we should seek to live lives that honor him.
This document discusses how Christians should live in light of the imminent return of Jesus Christ. It examines different views on the rapture and tribulation period. The key points are:
1. Every generation of Christians believed Jesus was coming during their lifetime, based on signs in the Bible.
2. The document reviews passages suggesting the rapture occurs mid-tribulation or post-tribulation, not pre-tribulation as many believe.
3. Based on Jesus' teachings, Christians should live in constant readiness for His return, providing for others and making prudent preparations, rather than ignoring the signs of the times. How Christians live should reflect their eagerness to see Him.
The document discusses how storms in life can help people grow spiritually. It notes that biblical figures like Job only truly learned about God after enduring hardships. While following Jesus does not prevent storms, he promises to be with believers during difficulties. Storms reveal people's true character and test their faith, helping them discover inner strength.
This document discusses putting on the full armor of God to stand against spiritual enemies. It explains that with God's armor, believers can stand firm against opposition. The armor includes truth as a belt, righteousness as a breastplate, readiness to share the gospel, faith as a shield, salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as a sword. Wearing the full armor through obedience to God enables believers to withstand attacks from the evil one.
Salt was once used as currency and has religious significance as a preservative and symbol of covenants. Jesus calls Christians to be "the salt of the earth" by spreading the gospel and influencing others positively without becoming corrupted. To be salty, Christians must preserve God's word, enhance others' spiritual lives, and influence the world around them for good through holy living and deeds that reflect Christ.
This document discusses the intimate relationship that God desires with each individual person. It explains that while humans may perceive God as distant, God sees each person as uniquely created and values each soul. It also explains how sin separated humanity from God but that Jesus's sacrifice allows people to open the door to a deeper relationship with God through faith in Him. The document encourages readers to reflect on their own relationship with God and whether they want it to deepen.
It is common to refer to the process of maturing as a disciple as spiritual formation. Here, based upon work by Greg Ogden, I give a four stage process for growing into maturity, and fruitfulness, as a follower of King Jesus.
The document discusses what it means to be a committed Christian. It begins by examining a passage from John about Jesus being glorified and commanding his disciples to love one another. It then defines a committed Christian as someone who is committed to giving God all glory, loving other believers, and having unwavering loyalty to God. The challenges facing the church today that can undermine commitment are identified as religious pluralism, materialism, and secularism. The document emphasizes that true commitment involves living according to God's commands, not just making promises of loyalty.
Faith is encouraging because it:
1. Gives strength in times of trouble.
2. Provides protection in temptation.
3. Brings mercy when one is discouraged.
4. Gives eternal perspective to life.

The document discusses the reality of spiritual warfare between God and Satan. It describes how Satan attacks God, the Bible, the church, truth, family, Israel, life, Christ, and individuals. Satan's goal is to erode faith in God and twist spiritual realities. However, the document asserts that through the power of God, believers can overcome Satan's attacks and that angels will aid believers in spiritual battles. Examples from the Bible of spiritual warfare and supernatural aid are provided.

This document provides a verse-by-verse commentary on Daniel chapter 12. It summarizes each verse or section, highlighting the key points and connections to other Bible prophecies. The commentary explains that Daniel chapter 12 outlines the events surrounding Christ's second coming, including the great time of trouble, the resurrection of the righteous and wicked, and the vindication of God's faithful people. It notes that some prophecies were sealed until the time of the end to increase knowledge and understanding among God's wise and purified people.

The document discusses the authority that Satan and his demons have over sinners and saints. It examines Satan's names in Hebrew and Greek which mean "adversary", "accuser", and "devil". While Satan and his demons can influence and tempt people, their power is limited and not omnipotent. The document asserts that through Christ's death, he destroyed Satan's power over death. It encourages believers to stand firm in faith against Satan's schemes by putting on the full armor of God.

The document discusses Satan and his origins based on passages from the Bible. It describes how Satan was originally called Lucifer and was perfect until pride corrupted him, causing him to be cast out of heaven. It outlines Satan's consistent strategies of temptation, through appealing to human weaknesses. While Satan is powerful, the document asserts that believers have authority over him through Jesus and can resist him by submitting to God. It notes Satan will ultimately be defeated according to revelations in the Bible.
Message series awakening - part 6 - awakening to surrender - pastor chuck b...LifePointe Church
This message is Part 6 in the message series “AWAKENING” by Pastor Chuck Bernal. In this message titled, “Awakening To Surrender”, Pastor Chuck talks about how we can go "ALL IN" with God by surrendering all we are and all we have to Him. Using the examples of Moses and his staff, the disciples and their nets and Elisha and his plow, Pastor Chuck challenges each of us to release everything to God in total commitment and surrender. This message was delivered at LifePointe Church in Crowley, TX on Sunday, May 28, 2017.
This document summarizes the key points from a presentation by Dr. Peter Hammond on changing the world. It discusses:
1) Demographic statistics showing that most people are unaware or uninformed about important issues.
2) The importance of using different communication methods to reach various groups, from books and seminars for thinkers to slogans and social media for the unaware majority.
3) The need to mobilize and involve people at all levels of society through various forms of leadership training, resources and methods of communication.
The document contains a prayer request list asking for prayers for several people dealing with health issues or other difficulties. It also includes a church bulletin with attendance numbers and upcoming birthdays. The rest of the document consists of multiple articles on living for Christ and being prepared for death.
This document is a summary of a 3 part sermon on Satan's tactics. It discusses how Satan prefers to operate unnoticed, like US special ops, and that believers must put on the full armor of God. It notes that Satan is already defeated but wants believers to think he is as powerful as God. It warns that Satan uses counterfeits in the church through false teachers like Copeland, Hinn, and Crouch who teach heresies that are not biblical. The takeaway is to not fear Satan as he is limited by God, avoid compromising values, and beware of false teachers.

The command to "watch" is written about 24 times in the New Testament. What does it mean, why is God concerned that we watch and what happens if we don't?
The document discusses Jesus challenging people to fully commit to following him rather than holding back or trying to appease both God and the world. It says Jesus was a radical figure who made bold claims and commands that upset religious and political leaders as well as some followers. It encourages readers to examine themselves and determine if they are fully committed to Jesus or just giving a partial commitment while holding back other parts of their lives.
Jesus predicts his death to his disciples three times - in Caesarea Philippi, Galilee, and on the road to Jerusalem. Each time he clearly states that he will be killed but rise again on the third day. The disciples do not understand and are filled with grief. When Jesus first predicts his death, Peter takes him aside and says "never Lord", but Jesus rebukes Peter, saying he is letting human concerns overrule God's concerns. The document discusses being prepared for trials by not being in denial, like the disciples were, and instead trusting in God's victory even in the face of suffering.
This document summarizes Jesus' three predictions of his death in the Gospel of Matthew. Each time, Jesus clearly tells his disciples that he will be killed in Jerusalem but rise again on the third day. The first prediction occurs in Caesarea Philippi, the second in Galilee, and the third on the road to Jerusalem. Each time, the disciples do not understand and are filled with grief and confusion. The document examines their reactions and emphasizes the importance of accepting God's will even in hardship, prioritizing God's concerns over human ones, and being prepared for trials through faith rather than denial.
The apostle Paul would disagree with Prosperity Theology based on several biblical passages. Paul suffered greatly for spreading the gospel, as did other apostles and early Christians. Jesus and his disciples lived in poverty and humility. The Bible warns that wealth can become a snare and distract from God. True prosperity comes from God and should be used to help others and spread the gospel, not for personal gain.

The document provides commentary on Revelation 12 and 13 regarding the woman, the dragon, the beasts, and the false prophet. It summarizes that the woman represents God's people who are persecuted by Satan (the dragon). Satan is defeated in heaven and cast down to earth. Two beasts then arise - one from the sea who blasphemes God and wages war against believers, and one from the earth who supports the first beast and deceives people with signs and wonders, promoting worship of the beasts.
The document discusses the spiritual authority and recognition of the Sole Spiritual Head in the spiritual and earthly realms.
In the spiritual world, when the Sole Spiritual Head arrives, all spirits and angels bow down and everything falls silent out of respect. However, on the earthly plane, the Sole Spiritual Head is not recognized or honored in the same way by human beings. Every object in the spiritual world is inscribed with the initials of the Sole Spiritual Head to indicate Their authority, but this is not the case on earth.
The document provides a summary of the Bible readings for Trinity 5: Jesus Makes Fishers of Men. It includes summaries of passages from 1 Kings 19:11-21 about Elijah passing his mantle to Elisha; 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 about how God uses what seems foolish to save believers; 1 Peter 3:8-15 about suffering for doing right and being ready to explain your faith; and Luke 5:1-11 which describes how Jesus calls Simon Peter and others to become fishers of men after a miraculous catch of fish. The overall message is about how Jesus calls believers to follow him and share the gospel with others.

The document summarizes a section of the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus is transfigured before Peter, James, and John. God speaks from heaven, declaring Jesus as His beloved Son and commanding the disciples to listen to Him. The summary highlights the key points of God identifying Jesus as His Son, expressing His love for Jesus, stating He is pleased with Him, and most importantly, telling the disciples to listen to Jesus. It emphasizes the importance of obeying this command from God by listening to Jesus' words above all other voices.
This document outlines key concepts in discipleship from Matthew's perspective, with parallels in other Gospels. It discusses that discipleship requires denying oneself and taking up one's cross daily to follow Jesus. The greatest challenge is overcoming one's own sinful nature. Though the path of discipleship involves suffering, it leads to an eternal crown of glory. True success is found by losing one's life for Jesus, not gaining worldly achievements. The document aims to spur discussion on living a cross-centered life as a disciple of Christ.
1. Jesus brings his disciples to Caesarea Philippi, an area known for pagan worship and immorality near underground springs believed to be gates to the underworld.
2. When Jesus asks his disciples who they believe him to be, Peter declares that Jesus is the Messiah and Son of God. Jesus tells Peter that this revelation was from God and that he will build his church upon Peter as the rock of revelation.
3. Jesus gives Peter and the disciples the keys to the kingdom, representing their authority to teach the gospel and open the doors of the kingdom to believers, binding what is forbidden and loosening what is allowed based on Christ's teachings.
This document provides a summary of Matthew 16:5-12 and discusses the key ideas around viral influences. It notes that both evil and God's power can spread virally. Jesus warns His disciples about the negative influence of some religious leaders, likening it to yeast. The disciples were initially ineffective "vaccines" against this, thinking carnally rather than spiritually. However, as they grew under Christ's guidance, they transformed into powerful "vaccines", spreading the gospel widely. The parallel is drawn to the current pandemic and need for effective vaccines to overcome deadly viruses, just as the kingdom of God will overcome evil influences.
This document provides an overview and analysis of Matthew 15:29-39, which describes Jesus feeding 4000 people with seven loaves of bread and a few small fish. It discusses the location in the Decapolis region, a primarily Gentile area, and compares it to the earlier feeding of 5000 in a Jewish area. It examines Jesus' focus on both Jews and Gentiles during this period and encourages readers to follow His example of being compelled by compassion to teach, heal, and provide for others spiritually and physically.
This document provides an analysis of the biblical passage where Jesus heals the daughter of a Canaanite woman who shows persistent faith. It examines Jesus' long journey to Tyre and Sidon, his long-term perspective to minister first to Jews, how he lingered before responding but instantly healed the daughter, and the long-term impact he had in that region. It also analyzes the woman's persistence in prayer, her positive attitude, and how she was perceptive in recognizing Jesus as the Son of David. The document encourages developing faith that scales up in the 21st century through having greater perception, pursuing things of true value persistently, and maintaining a positive outlook.
This document summarizes Matthew 15:1-20 and the background on Jewish traditions of handwashing. It discusses how the Pharisees accused Jesus' disciples of not following the tradition of handwashing. Jesus responds that the Pharisees invalidate God's commands with their own traditions. He says their worship is in vain as their hearts are far from God. The document provides historical context on handwashing in Jewish law and examines Christ's perspective on empty traditions versus true worship from the heart.
This document provides an overview and discussion of Bible passages from Matthew, Mark, and John describing Jesus feeding thousands and the crowds subsequently seeking him out. It discusses how the crowds were primarily interested in physical rather than spiritual benefits from Jesus, trying to shape him into an earthly king rather than accepting his role. Jesus offers himself as the bread of life and spiritual healing and freedom over physical needs. The document examines balancing work in this world with labor for eternal rewards and faith's response to Jesus.
This document provides a chapter-by-chapter summary of the Gospel of Matthew. It focuses on chapter 14, which describes Jesus walking on water and calling Peter to do the same. When Peter takes his eyes off Jesus and sees the wind and waves, he begins to sink. Jesus rescues him and says his faith is small. They get in the boat together and the wind stops. The disciples are still amazed by Jesus' power over nature.
This document provides an overview and analysis of the biblical story from Matthew 14:13-21 where Jesus feeds over 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. It examines the perspectives of Philip, Andrew, and the boy who shared his food. Philip focused on the limited resources and doubted they could feed everyone, while the boy offered his food to Jesus in childlike faith. Jesus then miraculously multiplied the food to feed everyone, demonstrating His unlimited provision and role as the bread of life. The document encourages readers to offer what little they have to Jesus in faith like the boy, trusting in His ability to do great things.
This document provides an overview and analysis of Matthew 13:53-58 and parallel passages about Jesus returning to his hometown of Nazareth and facing rejection from the people there. It notes how Jesus grew up among the people of Nazareth but they did not recognize or accept him as the Messiah. Jesus confronted them with the truth, but they were unwilling to face him due to disbelief and denial. The document encourages readers to make sure they are truly facing Jesus themselves and ready to follow him fully, rather than risk missing out or rejecting him as the people of Nazareth did.
The document discusses Jesus teaching his disciples about being teachers of the word. It says teachers must first become disciples of the kingdom by understanding the word. They are then like owners of a treasure house, bringing out both old treasures from the Old Testament as well as new treasures from the New Testament. The document provides examples of old treasures like principles and guidelines and new treasures like teachings about living by the Spirit rather than works. It encourages readers to evaluate how much of the treasures they have utilized themselves and shared with others.
This document outlines chapters from the Gospel of Matthew that describe Jesus teaching about the kingdom of heaven. It focuses on passages about separating good fish from bad, the sheep and the goats, and the king's expectation that believers will win others to faith and serve others. It argues that to be righteous, one must believe in Jesus, be born again, and bear the fruit of the spirit. Only those who have genuinely believed in Christ as the savior have entered God's kingdom. All others who lack faith will be thrown into the blazing furnace.
This document outlines the key chapters in the book of Matthew and then focuses on Matthew 13:44-14:36. It discusses three parables from this section - the parable of the hidden treasure, the parable of the pearl, and an event where Jesus walks on water. It argues that finding the kingdom of God is like finding a single, invaluable treasure that makes all other possessions worthless. Finding the kingdom separates out what is truly valuable and brings out the extraordinary within the ordinary. It encourages letting oneself be led by the Spirit to find the invaluable treasures available in life and in knowing Christ.
This document outlines Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 which discusses Jesus' parable of the wheat and the weeds. The summary is:
1. Jesus tells a parable about a farmer who sows good seed but an enemy sows weeds among the wheat. Both are allowed to grow together until harvest.
2. Jesus explains that the good seed represents people of the kingdom of heaven, while the weeds represent people of the evil one.
3. At the end, the weeds will be gathered and burned while the wheat is brought safely into the barn, representing the final separation of good and evil at the end times.
This document provides an overview and analysis of Matthew 12:46-50 from the perspective of "The Royal Family". It divides the passage into three groups: 1) The religious leaders who condemned Jesus as an enemy, 2) Jesus' mother and brothers who approached him condescendingly, and 3) Jesus' disciples who celebrated him devotedly. The document examines the attitudes and behaviors of each group, concluding that only those who do God's will can be considered part of his royal family regardless of physical or religious ties.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

5. SHEEP AMONG WOLVES
OBJECTIVES
To understand:
• How we as sheep can
survive and win
among wolves
• Who are the wolves?
• What is the victory
strategy?
6. SHEEP AMONG WOLVES
BIBLE PASSAGE
Matthew 10:16 “I am sending you out like sheep among
wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent
as doves. 17 Be on your guard; you will be handed over to
the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. 18 On
my account you will be brought before governors and kings
as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19 But when they
arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it.
At that time you will be given what to say, 20 for it will not be
you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through
you.
7. SHEEP AMONG WOLVES
BIBLE PASSAGE (CONT’D)
Matt 10:21 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a
father his child; children will rebel against their parents
and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated by
everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm
to the end will be saved. 23 When you are persecuted in
one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not
finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son
of Man comes.
24 “The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant
above his master. 25 It is enough for students to be like
their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the
head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how
much more the members of his household!
8. SHEEP
Helpless, weak, dumb, slow. Very easy
for wolves to attack and rip apart in no
time.
Jesus is sending his people as sheep
straight into the wolves hunting ground.
Sheep avoid wolves but in three ways
these sheep are different:
• They are being sent to the wolves
• They are to be shrewd as snakes
• They are to be innocent as doves.
9. SENT TO THE WOLVES
Jesus himself is referred as a lamb
sent to the slaughterhouse
He is now sending us in similar
manner among wolves – among
hostile people.
However there are some survival
instructions.
Why this assignment?
Isn’t there a better way?
Apparently not.
While the wolves revel in the
slaughter, the blood and sorrow of
the sheep invoke the power of the
Almighty to save many more sheep
some even from the wolf pack.
10. TO BE SHREWD AS
SNAKES
Snakes have a number of qualities
– barring the negatives, it is their
shrewdness that Jesus picks. To
know when they can stand; to
know when and how they can flee –
silently, swiftly.
When does a sufferer (sheep) fly
(from danger) and when does he
stand (and suffer the danger)?
Bunyan knew how to answer for
himself. He had four children, one
of them blind, and he chose to
remain in prison for twelve years
rather than promise not to preach
the gospel.
11. TO BE SHREWD AS
SNAKES
“Thou mayest do in this as it is in thy heart. If it is in thy heart
to fly, fly; if it be in thy heart to stand, stand. Anything but a
denial of the truth. He that flies, has warrant to do so; he that
stands, has warrant to do so. Yea, the same man may both fly
and stand, as the call and working of God with his heart may
be. Moses fled, Ex. 2:15; Moses stood, Heb. 11:27. David fled,
1 Sam. 19:12; David stood, 1 Sam. 24:8. Jeremiah fled, Jer.
37:11-12; Jeremiah stood, Jer. 38:17. Christ withdrew himself,
Luke 19:10; Christ stood, John 18:1-8. Paul fled, 2 Cor. 11:33;
Paul stood, Act 20:22-23. . . .” John Bunyan
Whether you stand or fly – laugh, Bunyan continues, “for that
the scales are still in God’s hand”
12. TO STAND OR TO FLEE
God needs to give us wisdom for this.
Standing represents endurance for Christ. To continue
faithful and steadfast in spite of persecution. We are often
called to do this in various capacities. Senior spiritual
leaders may oppose us as they did Jesus – that is not the
ticket to give up.
To flee or fly does not mean running out of fear – it is to avoid
conflict. We need to avoid provocation, conflict, debates, etc.
to the best extent possible. There is a time to flee, after all
best effort to stand have been exhausted.
13. AND INNOCENT AS
DOVES
While we stand seemingly
helplessly and watch the carnage
on the Lord’s people, we do not
soil our fingers just to paint
ourselves as the others. We
remain pure to God’s word.
We strive to daily cleanse
ourselves from all the impurities of
the wolves’ world, of Beelzabub’s
world.
Doves are cautious and careful.
They do not stir hostility or
provocation.
14. AND INNOCENT AS
DOVES
Innocence should be:
• A follow up on shrewdness and not
stand in it’s own – which would be
naiveness.
• The combination of shrewdness
which requires competence and
capability
• Derived by a strong conscience
coupled by high degree of
capability.
Innocence with shrewdness requires
deep purity from the soul
Is truly hard to find..
That is the unbeatable combination.
What can such a person hope to get in
this life?
15. THEY WILL INVOKE
A clash of powers…
Matt 10:21 “Brother will betray
brother to death, and a father his
child; children will rebel against
their parents and have them put to
death. 22 You will be hated by
everyone because of me, but the
one who stands firm to the end
will be saved.
16. THE CLASH OF
POWERS
There are only two big powers – God and Satan.
We are members of Christ’s family or Satan’s family.
Satan will manipulate his family to hurt and try to destroy
God’s family.
This destruction will result in the spread of the gospel – in
bringing in more children into the family of God.
Matt 10:23 When you are persecuted in one place, flee to
another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the
towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
17. THEY WILL INVOKE
And represent the
voice of God
As they stand as sheep before
wolves
The most powerful God will
speak through them
To the wolves
Trying to touch them and draw
them to Him.
18. THEY WILL INVOKE
Hatred, persecution, death – even
from the closest and dearest
But God has his agenda. To reach
the world before it is too late,
before the scales turn permanently
in favour of the Son of Man – Jesus
Christ who will rule forever.
Matthew 10:23 When you are
persecuted in one place, flee to
another. Truly I tell you, you will not
finish going through the towns of
Israel before the Son of Man comes.
19. WHAT DOES THIS
MEAN?
“you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before
the Son of Man comes.” Matt 10:23
There are multiple interpretations of this passage. However,
in my view, this passage is prophetic – not only applying to
his disciples but to the many that follow Him later. Father,
against son, brother against brother – implies generations
down the line as we have been seeing.
As the message is going through the Gentile world, it is also
perculating the Jewish nation. Christ’s coming will complete
the task, making the Jewish nation, fully aligned to Him.
20. THEY WILL INVOKE
The permanent
end to the rule
of Satan with
the coming of
Jesus
21. THE CURRENT MASTER
OF THE WORLD
Satan is training his forces against the true Lord of the world
Jesus.
Sometimes Satan uses good people doing good deeds to
divert from the gospel. The good can be the worst enemy of
the best.
Matthew 10:24 “The student is not above the teacher, nor a
servant above his master. 25 It is enough for students to be
like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head
of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the
members of his household!
22. WHERE ARE THE
WOLVES TODAY?
Everywhere.
• In our homes,
• in our churches
• In our workplaces
• In our society
• In our country
• People from all religions and cultures.
We need to stand up to them – AS SHEEP
And allow God to speak through us.
23. POWER OF THE SHEEP
In:
• Humility
• Gentleness
• Mildness
• Confidence
• Silence
• Graciousness
• Love
Lies the Power of God
24. DISCUSSION
Explain the statement “the good can be the
worst enemy of the best” in the clash of
powers.
How Satan can use “good” as an “angel of
light” to deceive even the elect?
How can we play on the side of the best at
all times?

Editor's Notes
Sheep, snakes, doves
Shrewd, innocent, on guard, speak, Beelzabul’s people
Tough:
Sheep going into wolves
Hostility of wolves bcs we belong to Jesus
Cautious and careful – shrewd – dove – no hostility, no provocation
All directions – religious, secular – gov kings gentiles – opportunity to be witness
Don’t worry about what n how to say – no advance knowledge – Spirit will speak thru us
Persecution from family also. Stand. Endurance is evidence of commitment.
Flee- avoid conflict
This brings us to the dilemma that has faced many faithful witnesses: When do you flee from danger? And when do you embrace it and witness through it? In 1684, John Bunyan published a book called Seasonable Counsels, or Advice to Sufferers. In it, he addressed this question: When does a sufferer fly (from danger) and when does he stand (and suffer the danger)? Bunyan knew how to answer for himself. He had four children, one of them blind, and he chose to remain in prison for twelve years rather than promise not to preach the gospel. How does he answer the question for others? May we try to escape?
Thou mayest do in this as it is in thy heart. If it is in thy heart to fly, fly; if it be in thy heart to stand, stand. Anything but a denial of the truth. He that flies, has warrant to do so; he that stands, has warrant to do so. Yea, the same man may both fly and stand, as the call and working of God with his heart may be. Moses fled, Ex. 2:15; Moses stood, Heb. 11:27. David fled, 1 Sam. 19:12; David stood, 1 Sam. 24:8. Jeremiah fled, Jer. 37:11-12; Jeremiah stood, Jer. 38:17. Christ withdrew himself, Luke 19:10; Christ stood, John 18:1-8. Paul fled, 2 Cor. 11:33; Paul stood, Act 20:22-23. . . .
There are few rules in this case. The man himself is best able to judge concerning his present strength, and what weight this or that argument has upon his heart to stand or fly. . . . Do not fly out of a slavish fear, but rather because flying is an ordinance of God, opening a door for the escape of some, which door is opened by God’s providence, and the escape countenanced by God’s Word, Matt. 10:23. . . .
If, therefore, when thou hast fled, thou art taken, be not offended at God or man: not at God, for thou art his servant, thy life and thy all are his; not at man, for he is but God’s rod, and is ordained, in this, to do thee good. Hast thou escaped? Laugh. Art thou taken? Laugh. I mean, be pleased which [how]soever things shall go, for that the scales are still in God’s hand. (p. 726) Bunyan’s book
11 “When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”
Luke 12
11 Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
12 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 13 Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Mark 13
