Today Governance Associates Ltd announces it will participate on expert panels at the
ICE Totally Gaming (London) 02-04 Feb 2016.
“It’s a pleasure to be invited to present on separate panels at the ICE Totally
Gaming Conference this year. I may have to race between rooms, but it’s always
a pleasure contributing to this stand-out industry event”, said Alan Pedley
Governance Associates’ Principal Consultant.
Alan has been invited to participate on the Africa Briefing, his topic “Impact of FATF on
African gambling – implications, timeframes, and strategies”. Alan is a world expert
in the fields of both AML/CFT and gambling regulation, and AML/CFT in the gambling
industries in particular. “FSRBs have scheduled mutual evaluations of all African
countries and the effectiveness of AML/CFT regulation in the gambling industries
is included. The emphasis on actual, effective regulation represents a significant
increase in scrutiny from previous evaluations”, Alan said, “Jurisdictions do not
want to fall foul of the FATF because of inadequate betting, slot machine, or
casino regulation”.
The 4th round mutual evaluations by FATF Style Regional Bodies (FSRBs) is difficult as
jurisdictions must demonstrate effective AML/CFT compliance within their gambling
industries. Countries face the possibility of being found to be non-compliant with the
FATF recommendations. Historically, this has led to countries being put onto watch lists,
