Google was created in 1996 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were students at Stanford University. It operates as a search engine that uses web crawlers to index web pages and ranks results based on an algorithm. The original Google homepage used a simple HTML design because the founders lacked experience in web design. Google also developed the Chrome OS and acquired Android, a Linux-based mobile operating system. Without Google, accessing information online would be more difficult.
