3. Removal of Contaminated Waste during
decommissioning of Vessels

To facilitate access and removal, a hole was
cut into the side of the vessel and after
wrecking, an electric Bobcat deployed to
remove waste through an opening cut into
the floor
Toxic dust was effectively controlled by use of
a pneumatic water suppressant system

Tunneling Operations - Mersey Tunnel Project
This complex project involved the boring out of
Interconnecting Safety Tunnels between the two
traffic lanes at the heart of the Mersey Tunnel
Access time was at an obvious and unavoidable
premium, working conditions were cramped
and ventilation in the confined working area
was limited!
Gnat UK's rubber tracked Brokk 250 proved the
ideal choice owing to its combination of small
footprint, focussed power, manoeuvrability and
fume-free 3 phase electric power source

We have a rolling investment strategy in 'State of
the Art' remote demolition technology and have
recently added three Husqvarna Remote Control
Demolition machines to our fleet- Two Husqvarna
250's and the compact Husqvarna 140
The smaller Brokk and Husqvarna machines are
ideal for access via scaffold, or through the front
door!, whilst the Brokk 330’s, (each weighing in at
nearly 4 tonnes) deliver the power of conventional
excavators that are four times their size!

Track Sawing in a Major Urban Sewage System
Gnat's Diamond Track Saw's were deployed to
modify the wall and roof sections in a complex of
large vortex chambers.
Precision cuts were made to both vertical and
horizontal surfaces to facilitate the removal of the
roof and walls during an upgrade modification
scheme in this major urban sewage system

A Marriage Made in Heaven!
BROKK 300 and 250 breaking through reinforced
concrete flooring in an old gasworks complex.
The resulting rough aperture was then finished
utilising a Diamond Tracksaw to cut cleanly
through the concrete and the projecting re-bars.

Wire Sawing Operations
Gnat UK utilised a newly developed Diamond Wire
Sawing Machine to remove sections of brittle,
1100mm diameter cast iron water main - embedded
in a concrete saddle and lying just 660mm from a
similar live pipe carrying one of the city's main
water supplies! Completed in a fraction of the time
needed by conventional milling machines and at
one third of the cost!
