This document discusses the movement of open-source organic farming in Taiwan. It describes two farming communities, Chien-Jia and Talampo, that have adopted a "hacker spirit" in their agricultural practices. At Chien-Jia, an engineer leads experiments with alternative farming techniques learned from a Thai NGO. Talampo's indigenous farmers transitioned to organic farming with help from amateur agronomists and through developing their own bio-formulas. Both cases illustrate the sharing of knowledge between governmental, NGO, and farmer networks and how affect, biocapital, and ecological knowledge connect innovation with property rights in the development of new agricultural movements.
