Global Child Health: Under-5 Mortality

The good news…..

The global under-5 mortality rate has decreased by 58% since 1990 to
39/1000 live births

The bad news…..

The under-5 mortality rate in low-income countries is 14 times the
average rate in high-income countries (69/1000 vs. 5/1000), with six
countries having rates greater than 100/1000

The challenge and opportunity…..

Use lessons already learned to reduce under-5 mortality to less than
25/1000 in every country by 2030
