Speaking as a practicing architect and a former professor of now more than 30 years I am glad to
write a letter of recommendation for Giulia Paradisi. During that time I have taught
undergraduate design for the University of California Davis and for the University of Noke
Dame during my Masters Program in Rome, knowing the profession both from its practice and
its teaching.
As you are well aware of the field of architecfure is "not for everyone". It demands a unique
combination of professional skill, technical acquisition coupled with creative innovation all
within the confines of code restraints. Having lived abroad in a totally different culture with its
particular challenges, I can say that I am glad to reciprocate my appreciation of my time in Italy
and to give my recommendation for Giulia.
In the time at our office she has shown the characteristics that I believe will allow her to become
a successful practitioner. In introducing her to acquaintances here I mention the fact that she's
had to; 1. work with a foreign language, 2. use a very different measuring system, 3. use a
different drawing program and 4. learn a new buìlding technology, no small task. To this Giulia
has applied herself with enthusiasm and commitment becoming quite good at all four skill sets.
Practicing in a small office requires considerable self motivation as well which Giulia has shown
to posses. In our conversations, I have the sense she has the passion to persevere and challenge
herself to the point of success. Beyond that, it has been a delight to have her as a part of our office
culturg giving an air of positive energy to our space.
I have enjoyed Giulia's time in our design studio and highly recommend you give her that
opportunity. I fully suspect she will not disappoint herself or you. I also look forward to
individuals alike herself to become the stewards of our profession of the next generation to meet
the future challenges much greater than that we ourselves have know
