GitLab is a single application that provides an entire DevOps lifecycle on a single platform with a single data model. It offers tools for planning, coding, collaborating, testing, and deploying. GitLab aims to acquire companies to introduce new product categories and mature existing categories faster by having acquired teams reimplement products within GitLab. For example, GitLab acquired Gemnasium to build out dependency scanning and lay the foundation for its Secure stage, which has since expanded to include additional security tools.
