1. Ghaidaa Motahar Alabsi has a master degree in Political Science from Warsaw University, Poland 2013.
Her Master thesis was on ‘’the Political participation of women between state and Islam in Yemen’’.
Ghaidaa is a gender specialist as she has experience working on gender and project management for 7
years with CSOs and international NGOs.
She startedhercareerin2009 workinginaprojectcalled“Legal protectionforwomenandchildrenfrom
physical and sexual violence” with sister’s Arab forum, her role was monitoring and documenting the
violence cases against women and children and link them with the psychological support services.
In the same year Ghaidaa fundraised a project on Empowering Yemeni women activists on new media,
and how they can use social media for advocacy and social change. Rising Voices

the project and became able to design their advocacy campaign through using social media.

In 2011, GhaidaaAlabsi found acampaigninYemenagainststreetssexualharassment,andthe campaign
was called “ Safe Streets”. The campaign received wide media attention locally and regionally, and the
followings are the main campaign’s activites :
1. Art Exhibition for young artists presenting through their paintings the sexual harassment

2. Production of a short film presents the issue from the point of “as you condemns you
condemned”, the film talk about a young man harass a girl in the street then when he go
home sleeps and have a nightmare about him being harassed by other young men and
then he wake up scared and realize the feeling of women when they are harassed, link to

3. Electronic map to report sexual harassment cases, this map considers the first map of its
kind and the target is to observe actual sexual harassment cases, link to the map:
