1 Using a sharp thin implement (awl or cross-head screwdriver), pierce through the two circular membranes on the
top of your matte box (insert picture 1 ).
2 Remove the two black Spindle to Matte Box Screws from the French flag.

3 Slide the two Spindle Hinges onto the lip of the matte box and align the two sets of holes to the holes you have just
made in the matte box.
1 Spindle Hinge 5 Lock Knob 4 Replace the two black Spindle to Matte Box Screws to secure the French flag to the matte box.
2 Spindle Screw 6 Spindle to Matte Box Screw
3 Flag 7 Locking Grub Screw 5 To use, loosen the tension on the Spindle Hinge by turning the Lock Knob and lift the flag to the desired angle .
4 Flag Spindle
Tighten the Lock Knob to hold the Flag in place .
6 To remove the Flag from the Flag Spindle, simply loosen the two Spindle Screws to slide the Flag off .
