  6. theses are the areas I&#x2019;ve noticed the biggest diff between good and bad projects. all the tips in this preso are ways influence one or more of these area to help steer relationships to the partner side of things.
  7. a lot of time the project/relationship falls apart because are heart isn&#x2019;t in it. use your site as more than just a portfolio - intro - case studies, process-- the work you want to be doing
  8. process makes you more credible and it gives value to your work. develop a process that makes sense for you talk about it- TELL clients that you have one, use it, let it evolve front load your process - make sure you have time for research and fact finding, this is the kind of info you need to do you job
  9. the closer to the beginning of the project, more likely to be partner You can help find solutions, concepts, ways to accomplish the goals and solve the problems at hand helps you do what you do - research and getting your questions answered learn for your client - there are an expert in their business.
  10. talk about WHY you did what you did and back it up with facts, best practices, whatever reference info from previous meetings and fact finding -- present your solution and talk about WHY this design works
  11. even more importantly - know when you are presenting emailing comps to a client IS presenting
  12. charge what you&#x2019;re worth don&#x2019;t under bid out of fear of losing the job - have confidence in your value ask what the budget is
  13. these days especially this sounds insane if the project feels wrong, if you get bad vibes from the beginning. say no. listen to your gut but don&#x2019;t shy away from challenging projects -- there&#x2019;s a difference

  16. define it . prioritize by it. use it to measure progress. if they don&#x2019;t have it, work with them to get it, or maybe not work with them at all.
  17. this is an easy one for clients to lose sight of the end user is more important than you, too
  18. Never ever ask what do you think again! ie. how do you think you&#x2019;re users will react?
  19. don&#x2019;t say no. say we could, but... then explain what the end result may be and why that would compromise the project pick your battles. maybe you want to say no, but think about why. take the opp to educate them instead of getting annoyed.
  20. depends on what kind of project it is but giving a cost for the entire project as opposed to x hours times this rate speaks more to your value as a professional and as a partner
