The document discusses WebRTC and its business usefulness for communications service providers. It notes that WebRTC engagements are increasing and most are focused on communications services and interested in video capabilities. It also discusses how WebRTC can help lower costs and raise revenues, though it requires additional components like media processing to generate meaningful revenue. The document advocates that WebRTC needs to become more business useful by providing these additional media services and processing capabilities.
The realization that digital Customer Experience is highly relevant for the success of a company has now reached even the most conservative industries. Nevertheless, CX is often equated with "looking nicely" and the attractive design of products. In times of crisis, this rather meagre understanding of customer experience can quickly lead to improvements in this area being postponed as non-essential. Yet in a situation where customers depend on digital interactions, they are more important than ever.

Protect Your Organization Against Known Security DefectsDeborah Schalm
With the proliferation of vulnerabilities continuously being uncovered in untested software at alarming rates, organizations are prioritizing those that are most detrimental to their application landscape. The increased adoption of DevOps, the growing maturity of application security programs, and more formalized developer training initiatives are helping organizations test and ensure the delivery of secure software. Join Tim Jarrett, Sr. Director, Product Management at Veracode, as he discusses these trends based on the recently published State of Software Security Report, 2017. Specifically he’ll cover key statistics related to topics including:
-Industry trends such as vulnerability fix rates and percent of applications with vulnerabilities
-The pervasive risk from vulnerable open source components
-How shifts in Operations and Testing practices can significantly improve the quality and security of applications
Learn best practices for measuring application portfolio risk, remediating software vulnerabilities, and working with development teams to embed these concepts into the software development lifecycle.

Seven Deadly Saves To Security With IntegrationsSBWebinars
As software increasingly plays a critical role in how leaders run businesses, we are seeing that organizations want more software produced faster while at the same time protecting themselves against cyber attackers who are finding software a more attractive target to explore. For security professionals, this expanded and more complex threat landscape requires taking on a new defensive approach that is different from the traditional playbook they have been following. For developers, this simply means that their jobs are changing. The need to get software out the door faster has led to a shift to DevSecOps – where software ships quickly and incrementally, and where both teams address security and operational concerns early and often.

This document discusses frameworks for replacing legacy technologies with new technologies for existing customers. It begins by noting that large IT projects often fail due to unrealistic expectations not aligning with reality. The document then introduces the Minimum Viable Replacement (MVR) framework as an alternative to the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) framework for these types of replacement projects. The MVR framework focuses on replacing existing technologies for existing customers, rather than introducing new capabilities to new customers as the MVP framework does. The document outlines a five step process for MVR projects that includes assessing if it is an MVR project, decomposing the project, identifying risks and opportunities, developing strategies to maximize benefits and minimize risks, and iterating throughout the project. Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)Julian Hyde
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.
