New ideas emerge when we ask "why", observe the world and set out to find answers. Innovation and Creativity are not teachable skills, but Curiosity is innate and dormant within each of us. These are some quotes to inspire your curiosity.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

that you care about, that you have a deep
passion for, because you're going to have to
devote a lot of your life to it. And you're going
to have to really be focused on it, overcome
a lot of hurdles, such as people saying you
can't do it. And of course take a lot of risks.”

passion originates “in compassion, or love --
a source celebrated not in our intellectual
tradition but in our spiritual heritage”

Editor's Notes
George Lucas He is an American film producer, screenwriter, and director Throughout his career, he set a new standards for animated films and making motion picture history ever since. He’s created many of the most popular films in motion picture history.... including....
and also this one...
We know his films
George Lucas was born in Modesto , California, the son of Dorothy Ellinore Lucas (née Bomberger; 1913-1989) and George Walton Lucas, Sr. (1913–1991), who owned a stationery store.
This is what he looked like...
Growing up...he didn’t like school.. it was boring! He felt forced into classes he had to be taking & didn’t know why he was learning the content He had no passion for learning the content in the classroom But you know what he did have a passion for?
He developed a passion for cars and motor racing which inspired him to add this into his movie... He wanted to be racer car driver, but was in a near fatal car accident...so he changed his mind.
you see several examples of racing in the Star Wars films and Indiana Jones movies He studied cinematography at the University of Southern CA. He also enjoyed studying other subjects including anthropology, sociology, and literature...he enjoyed learning why people do the things they do... analyzing human behavior ... that passion and understanding of human development translated on-screen and developing characters in his movies. After graduating with a bachelor of fine arts in film in 1967, he tried joining the United States Air Force as an officer, but he was immediately turned down because of his numerous speeding tickets .
His first film flopped terribly in 1971.
American Graffiti was a great hit! The film was nominate in five categories including ....
Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Director The film featured some great talent. Can you name these individuals?
Ron Howard
Richard Dreyfuss
Harrison Ford
So let’s talk about the decision-making point. George Lucas is the co-founder of a non-profit organization called...
In the late 1980, Steve Arnold, general manager at Lucasfilm’s Game and Learning divisions, had discussions with George Lucas about his interest in education. George didn’t love his education growing as a child...no connectedness with curriculum..what he was learning, with the teachers... George wanted to provide hands-on experiences for students, he saw and understood the value of relationships and working in teams in projects, and the role technology would play in student learning. They believed the personal computer could be used to develop an immersive world for students to learn...like it was changing the world of filmmaking
Mission Statement: a place where schools provide rigorous project-based learning, social-emotional learning, and access to new technology; a place where innovation is the rule, not the exception; a place where students become lifelong learners and develop 21st-century skills, especially three fundamental skills He describes edutopia has a supermarket... “ you can walk down the aisles and say why don’t we do this? This looks good, let’s try it.”
It’s this passion that drove George to study sociology, anthropology, and literature To create great movies... he faced a lot of challenges in creating those films.
Educators are the same in this... - that we have a love for our students - a love for learning - we are passionate about developing leaders...and everything
